I'm waiting to hear a Picard-esque flute too. That was the mild twist. Though nice trick on giving Xiao her worst fear. :lol:

FINALLY, a very cool alien from the Pegasus galaxy who lived a long time ago, and is extinct and seemed very awesome, a very nice peaceful race that was highly technologically advanced, very sweet.

They looked neat, and I want to learn more about them. Wonder if they knew the Ancients or Asgard or Furlings or anything.

Would have been cool if they WERE the furlings now that I am thinking about it, they wouldn't have had to show them, but they could have stated that they are the Furlings, that would have been a neat twist, the Furlings being a silicon lifeform.

Anyway, I'm giving this a Good, this turned out to be a surprisingly good episode! I was very pleased when it turned out to be the device, and not really the Genii.

OK, I'm back. I liked this one. I totally bought that Kolya was back (nobody stays dead in sci fi)... and couldn't believe the writers had the balls to maim Shep. Turns out I was right, but it would have been awesome.

I also was hoping Woolsey was going to get some action... really enjoyed the end (and I loved the hallucination that sent The Witch packing. Hee.).

The alien was excellent.

But the best part -- Not!Zelenka!
 
After skipping a few episodes, I decided to watch this because Kolya returns and I want to see if John’s arm actually does get cut off. :rommie:

I give it 3 Zed Pee eMs even though the hallucinations and their causes were predictable, it's still something worth watching on a boring Friday night.

I gave it a 'good' rating. While it was very predictable, seeing Koyla again was a treat. And next week? Bill Nye the Science Guy and Rodney the Brilliant Guy save the Pegasus Galaxy!

I am looking forward to it.
 
A good episode. Reminded me a little about the Scorched Earth episode from SG1 with the seeding ship. (and an ai to boot). I liked it that it was in their heads and the fact that Rodney got tricked the longest by it.
I would have thought that he would have been a little more suspicious when Zelenka praised him a little.

Though you have to feel for Woolsey a little bit, he seems realy alone there. Nice touch at the end with im joining the crew.
 
A little above average, a little below good, very predictable but I was glad the use of Kolya wasn't just a lame resurrection. I wish they would stop with the IOA are a bunch of idiots stuff, there was no need for it.

Average. An interesting standalone sci-fi story, even if it was cobbled together from bits of TNG episodes.

I rated this one bad.
I hate the way Rodney treated Zalenka in this episode, that was first season Rodney. Fifth season Rodney would have still been standoff-ish and insecure about someone else having an idea, but not as brutal. Horrible characterization of Rodney.
Also, the reason for getting John away from the base was idiotic. Because he was a military man? What about Lorne or Ronon or that bald guy that always stands in the background with a rifle, or any of the other 100 military personnel on the base? Why would it only be Sheppard to see the danger in the device?

It was a nice twist on a recycled story, and it was nice to see Kolya again, but thats about it.
