You're right, it isn't. That's what makes it pointless.

It's pointless to think that somebody in the city might care enough to see if Ronan is OK?

Re: SG-A – Enemy At The Gate (5x20) FINALE – (Discuss – Grade | SPOILE

who would watch a show called Stargate for it's detailed portrayal of relations? Only a woman.:p
That's right, women watch TV for intelligent things like smart characterization and character interactions. Men watch TV to see shit get blowed up real good. :p

Ya mean there's another reason other than explosions? :wtf: I thought they just made that up for Citizen Joe.

Re: SG-A – Enemy At The Gate (5x20) FINALE – (Discuss – Grade | SPOILE

It was alright. Very paint-by-numbers.

I am glad they didn't reveal the SG program to the world. If they did, it would have been so shoe-horned in and we would be complaining how it was mentioned, but nothing was done about it.

I wish Bates could have made a cameo in the episode. He seemed to be the only glaring omission of bringing back recurring characters that are still alive.

Re: SG-A – Enemy At The Gate (5x20) FINALE – (Discuss – Grade | SPOILE

They should have been allowed to shoot an extra two hours this season with episode 20 being a lead in episode and 21/22 being the series finale. They had to rush things along to get a series-ender in a single episode.

Re: SG-A – Enemy At The Gate (5x20) FINALE – (Discuss – Grade | SPOILE

The loss of Area 51 not only destroyed the Ancient chair, I bet it also took a lot of Ancient/Goa'uld/alien technology with it, the stuff the Stargate teams have collected over the years during their travels.

That could be a severe blow for Earth, IMO. After all, wasn't acquiring and learning to use alien technology a key part of the Stargate program?

Then again, with the entire Asgard database at their disposal, maybe Area 51 isn't such a horrible loss after all.

Gatekeeper

There is another Chair they could get to, There is an entire Ancient city sitting there stuck in the dirt in Pegasus, it's chair was in good working order. Remember the episode "The Tower".

I doubt we'll get to see much of Earth in Universe, but perhaps in the Atlantis TV movie they could show that the world's most powerful nations have conveniently agreed to place a new network of "weather satellites" in orbit to measure "climate change".

Yes indeed. Unbelievable that the writers have not considered a planetary defense grid yet for Earth. There are even multiple plausible cover stories, as you suggest.

Imagine a battle in the SGA finale, where the Wraith also had to fight off a planetary defense grid first. Think Babylon 5's "Endgame" episode - much epic-ness.

^Well, I'm sure Daniel might not like the idea too much.

A nice guy gets a hot chick. They met and it clicked. Why the need for any buildup? IMHO on a show just as good as IRL...
IRL is not the same as drama. RL is pretty random but in drama, there is some expectation that events depicted are not just random shit the writers feel like throwing at us, and should be crafted to create coherent storylines that have, I dunno, some kind of point? Was there a reason Ronan needed a girlfriend at this late date, particularly one who shows no signs at all of ever being an interesting or worthwhile character (presumably for the DVD movies). Maybe they're going to give Teyla the boot and Gate Chick is the replacement, but I don't see how she's an improvement.

I felt sorry for Ronon because of Keller. That he got the gate tech is just fair.

That's right, women watch TV for intelligent things like smart characterization and character interactions. Men watch TV to see shit get blowed up real good. :p That's why so much of TV seems to be made for morons - it is!

Not that I ever expected anything intelligent from Stargate. But it's fun to tear to shreds for being as completely dumbshit as it is.

I hate every single shootout.

You're right, it isn't (a relation). That's what makes it pointless.

Some people can enjoy company without "relation".

I will say I'm interested to know what the Odyssey was doing on its secret mission that prevented it from showing up for the fight.

(or was that a hint at something I was already supposed to know about?)

No, it was a load of nonsense designed to explain why we couldn't put our ZPM-powered, Ori-killer ship up against theirs.

I got the impression that it was all some kind of lead-in to Stargate Universe; the ultra secret Odyssey mention would be something we see at the start of the new series. They already did something similar with the wrap up of Carter's tenure in the Atlantis season five premiere leading directly into the Stargate Continuum DVD.

I'm sure the IOA would be dead-set against that system if only based upon Daniel's assessment.

And, yes, it's absolutely ridiculous that nobody at Area 51 has the ancient gene (either naturally or via injection). That chair was Earth's last line of defense against alien attack! And they must have had somebody test the system when they moved it from the Antarctic...

Ratings are in...

Enemy At The Gates scored a 1.5 household rating (Live + Same Day)

This is an increase of 25% from the last ratings report from the final episode in 2008.

Ratings for the previous week, January 2’s "Vegas" are not yet available, though early viewership signs indicate a slight lift over the 1.2 earned by “Identity

SCI FI reports that 2.02 million viewers watched the series finale — 973,000 adults in the 18 to 49 demographic, and 1.12 million age 25 to 54. It’s a season-high in key demographic measures, and ties “The Lost Tribe” for the highest rounded-off ratings number.

The network calls it the best performance for an episode of Atlantis since the Season 4 finale in March.

Atlantis’s lead-out show "Sanctuary" drew 2 million viewers and earned a 1.6 rating for its first season finale — its best performance since the series premiered in October.

SCI FI also reports that with time-shifted viewership accounted for (Live + 7 Days figures), Stargate Atlantis averaged a 1.6 rating and 2.1 million viewers for its final season. Sanctuary averaged a 1.8, including its big draw for the series premiere.

Could of been better, could of been worse. Also Sanctuary is doing very well at 10pm, a 8/9pm slot could see higher ratings IMO.

Well I just relized one good thing about the destruction of Area 51

The Ark of Truth was stored there so that was taken out so we don't have to worry about anyone having the ability to mass brainwash people.

That's what television is for. :techman:

Says the woman who watches a show she hates because the lead actor is good looking. :p

You won't catch me watching Desperate Housewives no matter how many years I spent in love with Teri Hatcher. :D

I watch Knight Rider to feed my male need for popcorn action but the rest of shows I watch actually contain proper actors, good drama and humor. I don't watch Desperate Slu, Housewives, Lipstick Jungle or anything from CW, which as we all know is total CRAP ;)
