First Stargate: Universe promo I've seen, hrmmm, red glowing gate? AWESOME, IMO it SHOULD be red, just like the Milky Way gates.
I was cheated out of a few shots I wanted to see in this episode. I wanted to see the Wormhole drive in action. I also wanted to see a pullback shot from Atlantis sitting in San Fran.

I wonder how the suits are gonna cover this one up? i am assuming that is the golden gate bridge in San Fran. I hope they didn't land on Alcatraz..

As a regular episode, I'm voting good. However, I wanted so much more for a series finale. With another hour, they could have done something huge... SGA's equivilant (or attempt to even approach) SG1's Lost City. But, for one hour, it was a good story, nice effects, but could have so easily been bigger. I liked the nod to Don S. Davis.
They missed out on some real shots at being ballsey. I would have been impressed if they left Ronon dead. I would have been impressed if Sheppard actually set the nuke off (to make it work, they could have had the ship grow enough that the nuke crippled it, but didn't kill it. The team on the inside could survive). I would have been impressed if Atlantis blew up on the way down. I would have been really impressed if it came down in SF bay, they couldn't land anyplace else, and they lacked the cloak. Unfortunately, they did everything they could to not be really, really, really impressive.

They could have done a better job with 2 hours I'm sure. But how much time did they really have to get this one in the can?

Yeah, it is interesting, I wonder if this is how they were going to originally end it before the cancelation. Would have made a great Season 6 to do that season with Atlantis on Earth. They could use Atlantis as the main base for gate travel between Earth, the entire Milky AND Pegasus galaxies.

I'll put up a season grading thread tomorrow.
The only thing I really didn't like in this episode (while cool) was the wormhole drive. I loved the idea of it (would have like to seen it in action) but I don't like how all the sudden there it is, after never hearing of it before, it is just there to do exactly what our team needs in that moment, and it worked without problems.

It's been known for months though that this was the end. Surely that would have been enough time to let them make a 2 hour special, or even a 2 parter that was an actual 2 parter.

I admittedly don't know anything about how the show making world works, but I would like to think that they could have gotten some extra time for a rewrite, and extended filming time, especially if the episode has been done for months. Oh well, no point in pissing about it.

Not possible, these things are done well in advance. There wasn't much time to change much, though I'm sure it was tweaked after hearing of the cancellation. I think with SG-1 they had more time between the cancellation notice and the shooting of the finale.

Typical for Stargate though, at this point I'd be almost disappointed if they hadn't done that.
I was glad Kavanaugh made it back for the finale.
