SG-1 Series 5 action figures announced (with pics!)

Diamond Select has announced what figures will be in the 5th Series of Stargate SG-1 action figures, and two of them are ones that fans have been waiting forever for! The five figures in Series 5 are:

Black Ops Carter:

"Air Force" O'Neill

Horus Guard (no figure image yet, but this is what they look like)

And the big two are (drumroll please):

Hammond of Texas!

and...

Ba'll! (finally!)

I hope that isn't the final body for Hammond. I mean, they practically just gave the Hammond figure O'Neill's body! This Hammond has no belly! You can't do a tall skinny Hammond. Anyway...

Thoughts?

Ugh. The *only* figure they've done that even remotely looks like the real thing is Thor. And that's a sculpt of a puppet. Not one of the rest look even close to the actor they're supposed to be, and their Atlantis figures are just as shitty as the SG1 toys. Pass.

I mean, it's nice that a decade after the show premiered, they're finally doing some merchandising, but this was the best they could do?

You are generalizing. Some have terrible likenesses, yes (Jonas Quinn, Atlantis Carter, Dr. Keller, for example), but not all of them.

Tell me this looks absolutely nothing like Christopher Judge. It's certainly not a perfect likeness (none of them are, really), but you can hardly say it looks nothing like him. Also, Sheppard seems to have a decent likeness. If you still think those two are the worst likenesses you've ever seen, then I must ask: do you seriously expect regular action figures to be as life-like as this premium 12-inch Harvey Dent? Your standards are too high, but they're your standards. I guess I don't care if my figures don't look exactly like the actor was miniaturized. ;)

Stargate figures are hit and miss with the accuracy. Some are pretty damn good, though. The Jack O'Neill figures for example are pretty damn accurate, and my Rodney McKay figure is an excellent likeness.

I'm going to assume (hope) that lean Hammond is simply a result of this being a prototype and that the final prduct represents Hammond of Texas with his proper physique.

Regardless of proper representation of his build or not, I'm already clearing a space on my shelf where Hammond of Texas is going to call home.

Since I don't buy figures I guess I'm not that picky. But Jack, Teal'c, Baal look the best. The others are very passable likenesses. General Hammond is probably the most off from Mr Davis.
