SF in Vancouver

The second UNDERWORLD movie was also filmed in Vancouver, posing as Hungary!

My favorite, though, was this silly tv-movie, that tried to pass Vancouver off as New Orleans! I can't remember the title, but it was a disaster movie about a giant sinkhole threatening to devour New Orleans right during Mardi Gras!

On the other hand, you had BLOOD TIES, a Canadian-produced vampire series that, ingeniously, had Toronto posing as . . . Toronto!

Don't see why people are bothered by one city trying to pass as another. Hollywood's been passing LA off as all sorts of places for decades.

And to wit, this year CBS bought and was/is airing the enjoyable show "Flashpoint", which though they never say where it's set, it's absolutely based in Toronto. They really downplay any location references, though the uniform flag badges, background Toronto City Police and the huge honkin' CN Tower easily give it away.

Kung Fu and Highlander Raven were actually filmed in Toronto and Viper was filmed in Calgary.

I was a big fan of the show Viper. After Viper's 1st season on NBC when it started up again in syndication, filming did take place in Calgary. I remember clearly seeing the "sideways" traffic lights. But then in later seasons it was moved to Vancouver.

Additionally, I just looked it up on wikipedia which says, "Season 2 was filmed predominantly in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The series was then moved for filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during Seasons 3 and 4." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viper_(TV_series)

Edit: here's a youtube clip of a chase scene from Viper. at 51 seconds you can see the "sideways" traffic lights that are found in Calgary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3QudqJr-rA
