Doesn't really meet the full criteria, but anything with a robot voice (which they used a robot in the early 80s) for... Plus it's ELO

The song was used for a Japanese Anime Convention called Daicon and the animation features a ton of SF&F cameos. (Star Wars,Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, LOTR, Narnia, Godzilla, Alien(s), Animes like Macross, Gundam, etc...)

The people who animated that sequence would later form the animation studio Gainax, arguably best known for FLCL (Fooly Cooly) and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I remember before the days of YouTube, I stumbled across an anime themed website and read about a fan produced sequence about a cocktail bunny dueling Darth Vader. Say what?! You gotta' be kidding me! But the site had a link to an .AVI file, one that took seemingly forever to load, maybe a couple of hours. Sure enough, after the lengthy prologue, the chibi schoolgirl morphs into a leggy cocktail bunny and parries Vader's blows with her own lightsaber. Nowadays, this opening ceremony anime sequence is more widely known and easily viewed via streaming services, but back then, before I actually saw the footage, I thought it had to be a prank.

This is the one I was going to post. So in keeping with the classic rock theme:

Prophesy Theme by Brian Eno from the movie Dune:

Was the track written especially for the film or what's the story behind it given Toto did the rest? It's one of my three favorite piece from the soundtrack (the other two being the Desert Theme and Take My Hand) and it was omitted from the sound track when it was re-released.

A couple from XTC/The Dukes of the Stratosphear

I believe Eno was commissioned to write a score for the entire movie (which he did) but only Phophesy survived once Toto were brought on board.

I'd like to hear Eno's entire score. The CD soundtrack album of Dune that I purchased includes Prophesy.

It was on the initial release (17 tracks) but there was a updated/remastered release with some early versions & extra pieces from the film not on the original release but omits the Prophecy Theme.

I don't know the story behind that. Prophesy is track 12 of 17 on the album I own so it must be the original release. Perhaps the label just didn't want to pay royalties to Eno as well as to Toto. I don't like Toto's work enough to investigate any further.

The music for the Children of Dune TV miniseries is definitely worth a listen.

Repo Man by Iggy Pop - an instrumental version was used for the titles of the cult movie Repo Man, which has a great punk rock soundtrack.
