Contest: ENTER SF&F Avatar Contest: The TrekBBS Acting in SF&F Award 2021

The Awards season has begun, and so it is time to continue our own.

Enter avatars depicting your nominations for best acting in a SF/F production (movies and TV) of the past year of 2021 (released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, so if you want to nominate somebody from The Book of Boba Fett, it must be for episode 1). Four entries per user, two for male and two for female actors, either can be switched for non-binary nominations.

Also, a note: This is supposed to be about performances, and one production can have more than one good performance. Therefore, if an actor of one production is already entered, and you want to nominate another actor from the same production, by all means, do so.

And a friendly reminder to keep entry sizes at 200x200 pixels and/or 1 Mb data (or lower), and of course, keep it safe for work. Also, please identify both your nominee(s) and the work you nominate them for.

As usual, my lack of seeing recent productions is a bit of a hindrance. (I'm assuming the "2020" in the body of your post is a typo, otherwise it would make things a bit easier! ;) ) I also don't really feel like I'm actually qualified to judge good acting, so I'm pretty much just going with "performances I enjoyed".

Alan Tudyk as "Harry Vanderspeigle", Resident Alien

Sara Tomko as Asta Twelvetrees, Resident Alien

I actually thought the whole cast was great, so it's almost unfair just to single out two of them!

We wouldn't want to skew the poll now would we? ;) I'll just enter the third avatar of Leo.
Also I'll nominate Meryl Streep as President Orlean in Don't Look Up for the for the highly prestigious Most Adequate Supporting Lady Thespian Prize:

I was going to try to come up with at least one nominee who wasn't in Station Eleven, but holy shit, I just watched episode 3 and Danielle Deadwyler was incredible.

And I made a slightly longer version of the GIF for Mackenzie Davis, so I was wondering if I could use that as my entry instead.

Any more nominations? Just a reminder, aside from productions with nominations already, 2021 had TV shows like WandaVision, Superman & Lois, Sweet Tooth, Loki, Midnight Mass, Doom Patrol, AHS: Double Feature, Y: The Last Man, and The Wheel of Time, as well as movies like Zack Snyder's Justice League, Army of the Dead, A Quiet Place Part II, The Green Knight, Black Widow, The Suicide Squad, Free Guy, Reminiscence, Candyman, Shang-Chi, Prisoners of the Ghostland, Venom 2, Eternals, Finch, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Spider-Man 3, Swan Song, Mother/Android, and Matrix Resurrections.

Can someone give me the dummy version of how to make these?
Well, first off do an image search of what you want to use. Still images are easier than animated gifs, and regardless of subject matter you can usually find those easily with any web search engine. Animated gifs, though, can be trickier. If you want one of those but can't find what you want, you can look for videos on YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. You can then use sites like gifs.com to edit the video down to the part you want to use, and then turn it into a gif. After that, there's EZgif.com, where you can crop, resize, optimize to get the data size down, and more fancy stuff with your gif. Then you only need to get your finished avatar-image onto an image hoster of your choice, and you're golden.

Thank you!!! I have a few nominations if I can make this work. :techman:

@Commander Troi , I'm glad you plan on entering the contest, but this has been open for over a week now. Therefore, I'm giving you (and everyone else, for that matter) a deadline: the poll will go up in two days. That's right, this is the LAST CALL!

OK, here we go.

Okay, first, I totally approve of both nominations and the avatars, except,... You do know you can make those twice their current size, right?! Because those are quite small.

Changed my mind, can I do Freya Allan as Ciri in The Witcher Season 2, instead of Mackenzie Davis

Sure, if you want.
