In honor of something that doesn't happen that often anymore, the release of a big studio SciFi movie that is not an adaptation, sequel, reboot, etc, in the form of "Ad Astra", this contest is about those original Science Fiction and Fantasy movies.
It might be a franchise flick, if this movie actually spawned said franchise. Like, "A New Hope" qualifies, "Empire Strikes Back" does not. "RoboCop" qualifies, "Blade Runner" does not (because based on a literary work).
Now, because there are some movies which were it is clearly based on something, but isn't labelled as such, if it isn't officially acknowledged as an adaptation, it's okay to go. So, while "Forbidden Planet" might be "The Tempest" in space, it is not officially acknowledged as an adaptation, so it would qualify. This rule is mostly because I don't want any debates about something being an "obvious rip-off" of so-and-so and therefore "shouldn't qualify".
The usual rules apply, 200x200 pixels and/or 1 Mb data maximum size, no nudity or such, two entries per user. Have fun!
