The old show had toys too, you know. Not great ones, but toys nonetheless. Heck, there was even an episode (Planet of the Daleks, I believe) where the toy daleks were used as props.


Plus, doesn't Heroes, BSG (and let's not forget Trek!) have action figures as well?

The main target of the current incarnation of Doctor Who is children given the vast amounts of toys and other child friendly merchandise it has spawned.

While the show may be child friendly, it's not specifically a children's show. Star Trek spawned toys of all sorts as well, and Trek isn't a children's show.
