What about a scifi cameo in a non-scifi show?
Sure.

I was wondering if we'd be allowed to do that.
I can think of a few:

Connor in The Closer/Waivers of Extradition and 24 (10:00-11:00pm -- I think)
Tim Russ in NCIS/Jeopardy
Anthony Montgomery in NCIS/Collateral Damage

I'm not really sure how those would work for the purposes of this contest, unless they happened to be playing their Trek characters (somehow ), or perhaps their real-life selves attending a sci-fi convention or something. But maybe I'm not completely understanding the rules of this contest.

Oh, and here's my entry:

^ I'm not promoting anarchy. E.T. said he'd accept sci-fi actors in non-sci-fi roles.

ETA: Can't go wrong with Futurama!

1. Those are guest star roles by actors who happen to have sci fi cred.

2. Cameos are very brief roles where everyone knows they're cameos. Like Sean Connery in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves or Tom Cruise in Austin Powers or in terms of Star Trek -- Christian Slater in Star Trek VI or Robert Picardo in First Contact.

Tim Russ was on screen for -- if he was lucky -- a minute.
Holding with tradition, Anthony was on screen for less than that.
Connor was on screen in Closer for less than 90 seconds (yes, I actually used a stopwatch.) :scream:

If anyone needs ideas, just watched TNG Cause and Effect -- so ... Kelsey Grammer.

^ Well, perhaps, but as Aragorn said, those are still just guest star roles by actors who happen to have sci-fi cred; they're playing a non-genre role in a non-genre show. That's the only reason I don't think it would make sense to use any of those examples in this contest.

But hey, that's just my opinion. If Evil Twin says it's okay, then go for it.

Let's be honest here -- that's Tim Russ and Anthony Montgomery. Those are not cameos. That's them getting work and getting paid for it. They're listed in the guest cast.

Michael Keaton making a surprise appearance in Out of Sight uncredited and doing it for free is a cameo. James Doohan doing his Scotty impression in Loaded Weapon 1 is a cameo. Jonathan Frakes doing an episode of Criminal Minds is not a cameo.

auntiehill's avatar isn't Dirk Benedict. It's the Cylon that's making a cameo. :)

Nope, you're correct Daneel. Couldn't have said it better myself.

A certain well-known starship crew, appearing in a Judge Dredd issue (though I'll be buggered if I can remember which one - it was a Cursed Earth story, I recall that much).
