My votes came after Star Wars.

Okay, I didn't prepare any other avs than my actual entries, but in the spirit of doing the classicsI took a deeper look into my archives, so prepare for some Oldies but Goldies.

All of those came out before Star Wars?
I doubt it will be as revolutionary as Star Wars was, but I voted anyways.

... Captain Marvel was apparently originally a guy.

Yeah, "SHAZAM!" was the original Captain Marvel. It was when the trademark on that character (or rather, Fawcett, the company that owned the character) ran out that first another unsuccessful company and then Marvel Comics themselves claimed the trademark.

After the death of George Reeves, the producers of "The Adventures of Superman" looked for ways to continue production. One idea was a Jimmy Olsen spin-off, the other, which got a pilot, was "The Adventures of Superpup":

And the Marvel version was originally a guy. He was a Kree Warrior known as Mar-Velll, Annette Benning's character from the movie is a gender flipped version of the character. Mar-Vell eventually died and several other characters took on the name, including Monica Rambeau, who was introduced in the movie as a kid, before it finally ended up being taken over by Carol. I think she's actually like the fourth or fifth one, and so far her and Monica are the only two women to use the name.

Phyla-Vell, Mar-Vell's daughter has also use "Captain Marvel" as a code name.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I've heard of the character from playing around on the Marvel Wiki, but I thought she was always just Phyla-Vell.

I had to wait in a long line at the Century Theater on Winchester Ave in San Jose, but I voted.
