Seven's bridge console

This is a totally random and not important question, but something just struck me. I've been rewatching VOY on Netflix, and I'm currently watching "Dark Frontier." There is a small console on the bridge directly behind the command chairs (kind of like where Worf's tactical station was in TNG). What is the console for, and was it ever used before Seven of Nine came aboard? Did they just decide to give it to Seven so that she would have somewhere to stand on the bridge?

That was there from day one, it just never got much use. If I remember rightly, it was supposed to be an auxiliary tactical station (at least going by the bridge walk round in Captain's Chair).

Personally, had Harry been bumped off by the 8472 she should have slid right in and taken over ops.

Astrometrics was pretty cool, though.

Not as good as the "stellar cartography" in Generations, but much better than the little, stuffy room featured in Nemesis. :borg:

Stellar Cartography must have pissed Picard off pretty fiercely to be demoted to that crappy room.

That's one of the annoying things about not dumping Harry, Seven and him clearly had somewhat similar job roles - to spout technobabble now and then.

Seven had a body but there is more to Trek than a body. I was sad to see some of the episodes focus on the men lusting after her like that. Same thing with T'Pol on ENT. She was meant to be in the Jeri Ryan tradition too. It just took too much focus away from whatever storyline they had going at the time.
