I almost watched it on Fox, but then I saw it was on CityTV
 
What year is this supposed to be? Sooo many contemporary references.

This episode had a promising setup then.....yup, human zoo, Twilight Zone ripoff. Not even an original Twilight Zone episode to rip off.

There's a lot of things the Orville does I like a lot, but then everything they do is just so damn derivative.

This is high budget TNG fanfic.

Not too mention The Cage. I was thinking the same thing, if you're not going to be full-out parody they will hopefully step up the plots.
 
They managed to talk about human social evolution without condescending.

I guess that's 'cause he's shouting at absent aliens who don't give a fuck. :lol:

I've got no problem with either. We still talk about Shakespeare and he's been dead 400 years. Over half a Millenium by Trek's time frame.

Yeah there are echos the Cage and the TZ episode, so what? A lot of fiction (I'd dare say most) is derivative. Star Trek more so than others. Even that Shakespeare guy cribbed a lot of his plots. If the execution is original I don't see the problem.
 
It's on now, about halfway through. I really like it! I'm really liking Ensign Kitan and the "acting captain" plot. I didn't watch the first episode last week so I'll have to go back. Also, the pilot is the actor who played Sergeant Malarkey (Band of Brothers) I haven't seen him in anything since then. He hasn't aged all that much in 20 years.

Also one of my favorite twilight zone episodes(Season 1-People are alike all over). To the person who said it's not an original twilight zone episode, do you mean twilight zone took it from somewhere else? Or that it was redone in one of the later TZ iterations?
 
So, the weekend after Star Wars opened I went to Disclave in DC and nerds were arguing about the Parsecs line.

Seriously.


This show's stories are so much more entertaining than anything Trek's done in God knows how many decades.
