News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

"dick and fart jokes" is a term used for low-brow humor.

And the ejaculation in the beginning of the episode
And calling the XO a bitch several times
"You got wood"

Probably a few others I can't remember.
If you think that the crew of a ship is only going to quote Shakespeare and have a very lofty sense of humor, with conversations only about the latest issue of Neutron Beam Monthly, then you may be sorely disappointed.

I think the thing some folks miss is the fact that the Orville is a mid-tier explorer. These folks aren't the best of the best (except maybe the doctor), all graduating at the top of their class.

They're just average folks. And I gotta tell you, it is fucking refreshing.

Complaining about fart and dick jokes in a Seth McFarlane production is like complaining about space ships in Star Trek. Honestly, if you have such a problem with that kind of humor, that the relatively small number of those kind of jokes here bother you that much, then I have to wonder if this is a show for you..

I don't mind crude humor. This just wasn't particularly clever crude humor. Yes, that exists. Red Dwarf also has crude humor but it's much more creative and integrated into the story. It doesn't feel artificially grafted on.

I agree. It's what I was saying earlier: in a normal workplace, this is what happens. The gossip, the little quips, sometimes crude humor. Sure it goes against what every HR person preaches, but in a real workplace, it happens. I've had conversations with my boss in the hallway when I've had to pee. It's at a level where we'd be talking about something coming up in work and finally say, "Look, I really gotta go. Can I stop by your office in a few?"

I watched the latest Discovery trailer and they open with "you are special" or some such non-sense. I rolled my eyes.

Yeah, that was my reaction as well.

Sarek goes on with "You are brave..." which suggests that it's an audio clip of him speaking to Burnham when she's a fairly young child. In that context, at least, it's not entirely condescending and obnoxious.

Where was the pornography in that clip?
If you didn't see it, you clearly weren't paying attention. I don't understand how someone threw that accusation out there, then left without answering it or backing up why they thought it was "pornographic" (which leads me to think some people need to look up pornography to see what it really is).

@Noname Given I'm thinking it was able to do that because it grew from the inside of the ship out?
