Eaves' first work in Trek was in V (uncredited, he was very young and technically just a helper to Greg Jein) and he did concept art for the shuttle, as well as the starfleet phaser and the closeup on the Klingon BoP disruptor (all stuff Jein Inc had to build for the movie). This is all on the Art of John Eaves book. It's unclear if he further elaborated from this early concept piece or if someone else did.

EDIT: Okey, the book says that his version of the shuttle got scrapped in favor of a design by Nilo Rodis-Jamero, so I guess that answers that.

Later for TNG, the shuttle got updated by Sternbach following the design he originally intended for the replacement of the Type-7 shuttle which he wanted to do for season 2 (but was rejected due to budget, hence we got the Type-15 pod).

EDIT 2: Sorry, I forgot to add, regarding the Drexler DS9 console, I'm fairly certain it's concept for the added standing console the Runabout set had in season 5.

I feel like I've seen those concepts before in relation to the late-season standing console on the Runabout.

@Rekkert Thanks for that information. Also I've not seen the Sternbach shuttle diagram before so I've added to the "Concept Art - ships" folder

It has just occurred to me that although I released the PDF of the Runabout Project back in 2019, I never uploaded the individual pages as images to the archive. So here they are: http://archive.frogland.co.uk/#15444532586577

@Redgeneral I'm busy with my own runabout and was wandering if you're planning on releasing the cockpit?

You're a goddamn hero! Are you OK with me trying to see if I can get the filesize down?

[EDIT] Nevermind, I see that the 3DWarehouse did some funky stuff which made it appear larger than it actually is.

Alright, as I suspected from the first glance, some work needs to be done in order for it to fit in the actual model. Main point in case: the access door. We can see clearly in Emmisary that there's an inner and an outer door. When looking at the cockpit, the door actually extends beyond the viewport, which doesn't make sense; after all, that viewport is connected to the outer hull, so the door can't extend beyond it. This requires some reworking, and even though I'm going to try and keep it as close to the original as possible, some choices will have to be made.

On a side note: I've increased the height a bit. Was the original set really so low? Even I with my relatively avarage 1.80 meters would probably bump my head a lot against all those crossbeams

Is that the same as for ST II...I seem to remember that a little flatter.

I seem to remember a TMP phaser drawing that had a little of the TNG dustbuster look... From a long time ago.

The blinking light tube device (modern props) is something I aim to blueprint at some point.

At first I thought it was just four pieces with two tubes you linked each pair with. No…it is part of its own U-shaped table.

I would suspend it upside down like a very special light and mirrors would multiply its numbers.
