They aren't even particularly similar, beyond taking place in space. This argument only really exists because they both have "Star" in the title. It really is that stupid.

I guess you must have been living under a rock for the last 35 years.

The star trek vs star wars unnecessary rivalry has been going on for decades now.

In case you are slow, what am saying is, people don’t have to choose between the two because you can enjoy both equally.

Well, I was simply going to move this to the Science Fiction & Fantasy forum (which—as I pointed out in the last thread—is the place where a topic addressing both Star Trek and Star Wars belongs.) There are two reasons I'm not going to do that, though:

1) It's entirely possible to be fans of both—and many people here do enjoy both—but threads like this really amount to little more than "Star Trek vs Star Wars", a much-overused topic which is inherently substance-light and too often devolves into two groups taking potshots at each other. (I can imagine the SF&F mods would love having that dumped in their forum.)

and (perhaps the greater issue here)

2) the parts I've placed in bold are you basically insulting another poster, first calling him ignorant and second calling him slow. (You shouldn't do that.)


What you need to spend more time on (besides selecting the forum appropriate to your topic) is considering where discussion is likely to go from the starting point you provide. This:
