Seriously why can’t you like star wars and star trek?

honestly you can be fans of both without been biased.

There are plenty of people around that are fans of either one or the other. Fortunately, I'm fabulously wealthy enough to have shelves large enough for all the DVDs!

I suppose if I could only afford a 4" DVD shelf... and if I had to choose....

I never knew that this was some kind of problem. I've always liked both.

Lucas's dog Indiana was killed by shrapnel in 1969 as the Enterprise blew up a nuclear missile in orbit. The scarring made sure that no Warsie and no Trekkie would ever then get along.

It's all true. I saw it on the Internet!

As shows, I like both equally. However, when it comes to merchandise, I much prefer Star Wars. I have SW comics and books and am fascinated with the EU. Star Trek literature? Don't care at all. I love SW video games and the trek ones I've played have sucked in comparison.

thanks, I dont know why you have to be hostile to wars if

you are a trekkie and vice versa. both are different and

great. Star trek to me is the best sci-fi series every created.

star wars (although Lucas has called it a space opera) is

one of the best fantasy series of all time, along with lord of

the rings, harry potter and the chronicles of nania.

However you can like both.........

I enjoy both universes and I feel no need to pit one against the other to say which one is best. Personally, I do enjoy Star Trek more because, for me, science seems to play a bigger role in it and because it was a big part of my childhood. But I still very much enjoy the story, the adventure, and the details in the visuals of the Star Wars movies.

There are undoubtedly some fans who do choose to battle over this issue, but I believe that it is more likely that the idea is exaggerated in our culture because it is an easy cliche joke about stereotypes perpetuated on situation comedies, stand-up routines, and late night TV.

Yeah, who says you can't like both? It's not like they're competitive sports teams or something.

I like Star Trek. I like Star Wars. I also like Farscape, Firefly, Buffy, and Doctor Who, among other things.

I hate to burden the mods here with another report..but now that my joke's done, maybe we should kill this? Star Wars vs. Star Trek threads (of which this is obviously one) are seriously frowned on here...

I like Star Trek. I like Star Wars. I also like Farscape, Firefly, Buffy, and Doctor Who, among other things.

That Among Other Things show, sucks. How can you like it????:scream:

Bite your tongue. AMONG OTHER THINGS is a cult classic! Especially the steampunk musical episode!

And remember when all the fans buried the network in Applets & Cotlets to keep it from being cancelled? That was a triumphant moment in geek history!

The wardrobe malfunction was the only memorable thing about that episode. Doing it live was a mistake.

I don't mean to be biased, but I discovered ST fandom via ST:TMP, and then reading "Starlog" articles about the making of that movie led me to "The Empire Strikes Back". (I hadn't actually bothered with "Star Wars", and finally caught it on TV). So I discovered both universes about the same time, but only had a hankering to collect ST stuff, not SW.

A friend and I went to the gala premiere of "Return of the Jedi" dressed as Andorians.

I was greatly underwhelmed by the three SW prequels. ST has had more hits than misses. For me.

I completely agree, except for Buffy which I tried watching and it didn't appeal to me. And Dr. Who, which I've never seen, either version.

Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Wars, Farscape, and Firefly however, are my top five favorite sci-fi shows and movies in that order.

Yay! Another topic by 1bulma1 that has little to no substance and will be locked soon!

jeez.........................

if you don’t like my topics then please don’t comment, and did you seriously ask about substance?

I guess you must have been living under a rock for the last 35 years.

The star trek vs star wars unnecessary rivalry has been going on for decades now.

In case you are slow, what am saying is, people don’t have to choose between the two because you can enjoy both equally.

I for one do

live long and prosper and may the force be with you.

Why does this come up, it makes no sense.

Some people like one franchise, some people like both. No one is twisting anyone's arm to VOTE. Who are these mystery people telling others they "can't" like both?

I like classic Star Wars and classic Star Trek. I like neither nu Star Wars nor nu Star Trek. :)
