Serious Adam West Batman

Christopher;6656693Lyle Waggoner was definitely not Batman material. He didn't have the voice for it said:
And yet he was able to ham it for three years when he played Steve Trevor on Wonder Woman. I think the key to Adam West's performance was his deadpan delievery, but I do thnk Waggoner was able to pull that off too on The Carol Burnett Show.

Steve Trevor and Steve Trevor Junior.

Shades of The Graduate, it's a pity that Steve Trevor senior died before Wonder Woman came back and she couldn't have been the thin wedge in an equally confused confused love triangle.

That other Robin was terrible.

But where was Burt's cheese?

He was campless.

And thin.

The dialogue from the screen test starts at about 12:30, though Alfred was written into the final scene and some of the lines were transferred to him. Bruce also mentions that "my own parents were murdered by dastardly criminals" at 2:55, so it's referenced twice in the first episode.

Ah, that's great to know. Sometimes the material from a screen test never makes it to the final presentation. But I'm glad they did speak of Wayne's core motivations. Otherwise, he'd just come across as a rich twit playing "weekend warrior".

Say, anybody in this thread ever see the original Ford Futura based batmobile? Me? Twice. First time at a 1973 (maybe '74) auto-show in Birmingham, AL. (Also met Leonard Nimoy at the event and got his autograph...which I promptly lost before I even left the exposition!) Second time was not too long after the release of "Batman Returns". (I remember because the associated "booth babe" was dressed like Catwoman, the Burton version with stitches.) The car was showcased on its own at a mall in Tallahassee, FL. Sweet looking ride. :)

Sincerely,

Bill

Yeah amazing isn't much Jr looked like his dad. :techman: But I guess Steve Trevor found another woman so I doubt if there'd be much a love triangle,

Weren't there five or seven of them? Including the one that later got covered in felt?

As I understand it, the Futura concept car was one of a kind, and it was turned into the original George Barris Batmobile. The site you linked to says that Barris later built three replicas, only one of which was used in the show.

And I've heard there are so many replicas out that there is some debate as to which cars are the "originals".

And it was great to get to see some of that Batgirl test reel at last. (A compact with a laser beam "that destroys anything?" Wow, vicious!) I liked the depiction of her transforming her regular clothes into her Batgirl costume, which is how it was done in her comic debut.

The Batgirl "pilot" has been online for years.

Not good quality...there may be a better version out there.

Killer Moth...the lost villain.

Note they place the sound effect texts over the actual film like the early first season episodes.

Oy, let me "generalize" my question then. Has anyone here had the opportunity to to see in person the (or maybe that should be "a") Ford Futura derived Batmobile, whether it be one of a kind, one of several show used duplicates or a screen accurate fan recreation? (There, I think that covers most of the bases.)

Sincerely,

Bill
