Series 7 FINALLY Starts Shooting

The official Doctor Who Twitter feed tweeted this morning that when asked at the DW convention "Will there be a new TARDIS when the series returns", Moffat's answer was "We built a new wall!" Their next tweet was "So the rumours of a new TARDIS set are debunked!"

It's a spider web wall

I noticed it as soon as I walked in there. The set is so much more impressive in person, than you see on TV, they really dont make the best use of it. Now it is a fully enclosed set with a 4th wall perhaps they will shoot different angles. Now they don't have an area to film outside from.

I think the jury is still out about there being a new set. On one hand why complete the set at Upper Boat before moving it, why not wait till after. But someone else at the event talked about the new TARDIS set then said told himself off for mentioned that.

I suppose it depends when new becomes current.

A set like that should have removable walls. A good example would be the Star Trek bridge sets; they were enclosed, but the walls and ceiling could be removed so cameras could get in.

There's no reason why the TARDIS set would be different.

Big spoiler from today's shooting for
Amy and Rory are getting divorced. Rory leaves solicitor's office with divorce papers and gets on a bus onto which the props people had brought that flexible Dalek eyestalk seen in the Trailer.

So Amy and Rory get divorced? This would be an interesting turn of events. I'm sure it'll be something like the two of them are about to get divorced when the weeping angels show up to bring them together one last time. Then one or both may die ...

And one more more Spolier, this time about
Remember the crazy theory that the Statue Of Liberty would become a Weeping Angel? Well, some of the stuff they shot last night involved Rory and other characters looking at the Statue and reacting in surprise at what they were seeing...

All together now, "Now once I was downhearted, Disappointment was my closest friend..."

Don't worry from what I've seen, Rory gets abducted/transported (possibly by militant shippers from the future, probably by Daleks ;)) when he gets on a bus before he can file the papers. He then ends up lying on the floor of a white room.

I'd imagine that he'll reconsider during the episode, but Amy will discover the papers in a later episode and he'll have to explain himself.

Oh, and I'm almost certain that he gets abducted/taken by Angels from Grayle's House (which is what the Bute Street location they filmed at yesterday is called in the show) in episode five.

It's not so much the act or the attempt act of divorce that disappoints me, but rather that Amy and Rory weren't able to (or will not be able to) have happy relationship in the end. And that's ignoring the rumors of one of them dying for good.

If it helps it looks like a case of good old Dalek Mind-Control.* In fact, thanks to the habit set reporters have gotten into of snapping shots of the clapperboards we know the last (or one of the last) scenes in Episode 1 is Amy and Rory happily waving goodbye to the Doctor from their front door.

*I'm guessing the idea is to get Amy to contact the Doctor so they can force him to fight on their side in the Civil War.

I was also thinking, might it be a good idea to start an Official Series 7 Spoilers thread to keep this stuff seperate from more general news?

Didn't know where to put this but Karen Gillian is on twitter now and tweeted this picture.

Data and Amy Pond? oddest pairing yet.

It's from LFCC, where they were both (among lots of other people) signing stuff - and we know she's a big Trek fan, having attended cons before becoming Amy...

I think Karen Gillan did an interview at San Diego last year where she said that if she were to go to a convention dressed as someone it would be Data.

Just when I thought I couldn't love Karen more...I never knew she was a trek fan!

My thoughts exactly - and the other half when I just told her said that it was coooooool!.

I remember seeing a photo of Freema in SFX dressed in a DS9/Voy uniform, do any exist of Karen in similar attire?

She did an interview with Matt Smith and Wil Wheaton last year (maybe ComiCon?) where she was blown away, not that she was sitting with Wesley Crusher, but that Wheaton worked (and knew) Brent Spiner.
