Series 6 To Shoot In The US!

I think an episode where the Zygons have infiltrated the American government, and the episode is shot entirely in Washington, DC...would be my choice. Is Clooney available? ;) :techman:
Hell yeah! I'm not too far from D.C. :D

Just thinking the other day that I'd love to see an Ep set in Vegas. But, Vegas of, say, 1965 with Frank, Dino, Sammy, Elvis, etc THAT would be fun

Given some of the stuff we're currently sitting on to see how it plays out, I think that you might "Fly me to the moon." ;)

This is just pure speculation on my part. Perhaps they are taking advantage of the fact that Torchwood is being shot in America? It would cut down on the costs if they could leverage on the US Torchwood set and crew.

Unlikely. They're apparently filming in Utah.

The US-location story also appears to be a season opening two-parter. I wondered when Doctor Who was going to get around to doing one of those. I can see reasons why Doctor Who hasn't done one yet; the series is usually doing a major character introduction in its first episode. "New Earth" is the only season opener prior to season six where there wasn't a new companion -- and all of her baggage -- to deal with. Trying to shoehorn the introductions, plus a story worthy of two parts, could pose a challenge.

BBC America has the official press release up. BBC America is co-producing the season opening two-parter, written by Moffat himself. The press release also indicates guest stars for the two-parter.

This has some interesting implications. Moffat has said he's only writing five episodes, so we know 1 and 2, presumably 7 (since he says he knows the final words of first half season), and probably 12 and 13.

One of the Spoiler Hints from the Brilliant Book Of DW mentioned Apollo 10.5 which would require US 1960's set story. Presumably it gets launched from a secret site in the Utah Desert. (And presumably they'll use this story as an excuse to stick Amy in some 1960's mini-skirts.)

Historically, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California would fill that role; they had a full space launch facility, including facilities for manned flight, and many military satellites were launched from there. Why create a fictional launch facility when there's a perfectly good real facility? :)

Like the series has ever needed an excuse to have Amy in miniskirts. :)

Now I'm imagining Karen Gillan in a Star Trek microskirt...

So I've heard...
The first episode opens with the Doctor being summoned to the Oval Office.
Of course, this has probably been mentioned in the spoilery thread, which I've kept out of so far.

Also, it's good to hear the show's opening on a two-parter. I'd make all the stories two-parters if I had my way.

Utah? Despite Dalek being set there it doesn't really scream *Doctor Who* to me.

In terms of the military (UNIT anyone?), there is Hill AFB in Utah, as well as Dugway Proving Grounds.

Maybe the Doctor and aliens had something to do with all the sheep getting killed. ;)

Added:

Hopefully this screams Doctor Who for you:
