Series 6 prequel planned

It's up and viewable from the US! SPOOKY!

Because the BBC and BBCA are in sync this year showing episodes on the same day so there is no legal reason to hold it back from the US.

As for the prequel, got to love Moffet doing what he does best coming up with scary shit. lol

I'm in Singapore and I could view it directly from the bbc website. So it seems to be viewable worldwide.

The Prequel (possible spoilers)

So who was "the person on the phone" that we see?
Which one?
I mean which president?

(saw it in NY at 3:50pm) on bbc.co.uk/doctorwho)

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

The shot of the nose and voice were clearly Richard Nixon.

From rumors I thought it was suppose to be JFK.

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

I think just the one, and I agree that it seemed like Nixon. I too thought JFK was supposed to be in the episode. I don't think the "Great Man" comment was with regards to Nixon lol.

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

hasn't Nixon and
JFK been done to death.. no pun intended..

Nixon is evil, JFK good blah blah blah...

Soooooo tired of that crap in media..

it is almost like JFK could do no wrong so much so that his little brother could drown a woman in a lake and get away with it..

unbelievable..

if it is Nixon, I sure hope they don't get all cliched and make him the ultimate villain, cause that would really make me think twice about watching that episode. Almost like the whole
Obama is going to fix the world economy crap in the "end of Time" what a joke..

yep, he sure fixed us good..

politics and stereotypes should be left alone in Doctor who, so that way all people can enjoy it without having to put up with any liberal or what ever biased is placed in there...

just my opinion anyways..not meant to spark any kind of debate or hatred coming at me.. though I know some here can't help it..

What's happening is basically the TARDISodes again. Back in 2006, each episode of Season 2 was accompanied by a 1-2 minute webisode on the official BBC site that teased that week's story; they also had some deal with a cellphone company that allowed them to be uploaded to people's mobiles in the UK. Most were stand-alone gags or what-have-you, and the one for "Girl in the Fireplace" actually gave one of the major games away right off the top. But the one for "School Reunion" featured Mickey and actually filled in a major plot hole in showing exactly how and why the Doctor and Rose ended up at that school.

Unfortunately BBC Video decided not to include them on the DVD release.

Now the BBC apparently has produced at least 3 such "TARDISodes" for Series 6, though they're calling them "prequels" this time around. Unfortunately, one major change since 2006 is that people outside the UK can no longer view video content on the official DW website, so it remains to be seen if the BBC will put these on its official international YouTube channel (like they did with the Comic Relief mini-episode) or if that'll be left to BBC America and the other broadcasters, and there's no way to predict if these will later turn up on the DVD/Blu-ray release, though the track record for BBC Video/2 Entertain releasing website-based content suggests more unlikely than likely.

Of course, if they are geolocked on the BBC site, they'll end up on YouTube within a couple minutes so I'm not concerned about not seeing them from here in Canada.

Alex

any way those missing series 2 webisodes will make it on a future DVD or a Doctor who fanclub release?? I would love to have those on disc in my possession..:)

and any other Doctor who mini episodes not included on any of their DVD releases..

That was great. Intriguing, spooky, visually engaging - can't wait for series 6.
Are they copying the X-Files mythology by any chance? ;)

Adam Klaus as Tricky Dick! And I loved that ironic line at the end --

"There are no monsters in the Oval Office."

I chuckled at that, too.

It's up and viewable from the US! SPOOKY!

And Canada, too! A pleasant surprise, indeed!

And Germany. Hooray!

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

Definitely Nixon; and the line "...there are no monsters in the White House" is particularly ironic.

From rumors I thought it was suppose to be JFK.

The nose definitely puts it over the top for being Nixon.

I thought so too, but 1, I didn't hear the "Nixon accent".

They probably couldn't get someone who both looked and sounded that much like him.

It did sound like a bad Nixon impersonator to me, though Rich Little would have done a better job with the voice.

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

I thought the shot of the phone call being recorded on tape was a nice touch, considering what role those tapes played in Nixon's downfall.

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

This prequel was a bit meh. "There are no monsters in the Oval Office" made me groan, due to its obvious implication.

And yeah, I agree, that President is definately mean to be Nixon.

Re: The Prequel (possible spoilers)

He looked like Lyndon Johnson to me.

that would be a welcomed change.. but probably not likely..

nixon has been made out to be such a monster over the years by the media so much so, that there is no way they won't use him as an evil president..

kinda sad if that ends up being the case...
