Series 11 News & Spoilers

Matt Smith was paid than Tennant, yes. (This article suggests it was significantly so.) AIUI, Tennant, when he started, was paid less than Billie Piper.

That's what I thought. It's the same with Bond. Daniel Craig was paid a pittance to begin with compared to Brosnan's last pay packet, the salary usually goes up significantly with successive films.

Good luck to Jodie, she certainly has a greater body of work behind her than when Matt started, plus I guess it depends how well paid Capaldi was compared to David as well?

Makes me think that actors should maybe get equal pay for equal work.
You can distinguish between top billing, co-starring, etc.
And then have some veteran coefficient that can modify the base payment.
Depending on general experience based on past work and experience in the specific role?
That would ensure equal pay but of course leaves less wiggle room for negotiation .

An infraction for just giving my opinion?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not racist, against the civil rights movement etc., my beef is simply how many times politics has been rammed down Doctor Who's throat lately, and just the fact that political agendas are becoming more and more apparent on the show signals that the writers will handle it in a soppy SJW manner. Judging from how writers have dealt with things before, especially in the Moffat era, it looks like an episode if dedicated to this will be rather soppy, I can't really see any other angle they could do it from. Note my threshold for soppier episodes seems to be much higher than most people on this server, they just don't do it for me personally.
What does SJW mean?

Anyway we all know the episode with Rosa Parks is going to be how awful those white men where in that time period. How Rosa and women(Jodie Doctor) must stand up to the evil empire of white guy power. So lets stop kidding ourselves, there is a agenda here at the BBC. But that's fine as long as its not over the head in your face.

Though I wish they would do a episode out of Saudi Arabia or Iran with the Doctor telling the guys there that women should be equal to men and not objects to own and are free to not where head scarves etc.

Also wish the Doctor would visit ancient Egypt and deal with the pyramids of Giza and do an episodes in Mexico regarding the Aztecs.

Has the Doctor ever dealt with the Lost city of Atlantis?

SWJ is used in a derisive manner against people promoting equality, usually by people who don’t want change. It stands for Social Justice Warrior.

Atlantis has been visited at least two times. The first was The Underwater Menace, set in a submarinic, contemporary Atlantis, with a mad scientist, famous for “nussink in ze vorld can stop me now!” Two of the four episodes no longer exist.

The second was The Time Monster, which involved the Master using a device to link back to ancient Atlantis, pre-sinking.

EDIT

I missed this bit before. I don’t know if the post was meant as a joke, seeing as the subjects have already been touched upon, but...

Both of these were touched upon (only glancingly in the case of the pyramids). The Doctor made a stopover in ancient Egypt while being chased by the Daleks in The Daleks’ Masterplan (3 of 12 episodes exist). The Doctor visited the Aztecs in The Aztecs. All four episodes exist. The Doctor got married in that story.

He got engaged, then jilted her...

Don't recall have seen that one but remember vaguely the novelisaiton. Main take away was Barbara trying to change their culture and learning the hard way that it's not always possible.

It was a minor side story, a bit of gentle humor in an otherwise deadly serious conundrum. Hartnell's Doctor is simply polite to an Aztec woman seemingly in her 40s. Eventually their conversations lead her to offering the Doctor a cocoa based beverage. Turns out that is a gesture of proposal and by accepting it, the Doctor finds himself unwittingly engaged! One almost expected the Doctor to perform a spit take given his shocked expression!

Please, tell me more about how nice the white Americans who bombed black children in a church, lynched black men, murdered civil rights activists, and rioted over black kids being allowed in the same schools as white kids really were. If it's an "agenda" to present those white people as evil, well, by golly, enlighten us about the pure and noble hearts of those white Americans.

I'm sure if you had asked their neighbors, they would have told you they were "nice, quiet boys who kept to themselves".

It's a real shame Grade did not take Newman's advice way back in 86 and have a female Dr, that way we would have dodged all the internet outrage and conspiracy theorys and the most we might have got was a cringe worthy song about keeping the Dr male, possibly Dr in De-dress. lol

I believe it was reported that due to the ten-episode run of the season, the episodes would run longer.

That's going to be an awkward time for the places where Doctor Who is broadcast with ads. To long for an 1 hour timeslot, too short for a 90min. Either going to be filler at the end or more ads during the show.

Yeah, 10 eps at 50m each instead of 12 eps at 45m each. Still less overall, so a slightly longer 1st episode is good news.

On BBC America, when a new episode ran for the first time, the timeslot was 75 minutes owing to a slightly longer episode. Then on subsequent showings, the timeslot was 60 minutes, so they must have pared the episode down 'cause you know they wouldn't cut any commercials.

Not really. The Christmas specials are that approximate length and tend to be given a 90 minute timeslot.

I've seen SPACE schedule shows that go from, say, 9 to 10:15 if needed, so I'm sure the same could be done for a longer-but-not-too-much-longer DW episode.

The Christmas episodes are 60 minutes and have a 90 minute timeslot. The 50 minute episodes will just be awkward.

I'm sure BBC America will work something out for the first airings, but reruns will be cut. And less flexible broadcasters elsewhere in the world might well do the same.
