Series 1/31/Fnarg/Fred debate settled?

Maybe in the interim between writing the two columns it was decided they had to come up with a firm decision?

Thing is, no one at the BBC seems to be paying it any mind. (Even Red Bee Media who've produced the 3D trailer for the upcoming series are calling it Series 5.)

You know what, they might not actually give a damn what it's called and anyway, why should the BBC care? It' a massive organisation with a massive output.

There have been 2 Top Gears, didn't they start with S1 with the new series?

And it wasn't off the air for 16 years.

I've never understood why the series should sweep it's past under the carpet like it's an embarrising relative or something. It should embrace it's past, warts and all..

I'm hoping it's settled. I don't care how. But, people calling it a funny name and thinking it's a hilarious joke is wearing thin. It's not funny after the first couple of times.

Personally, I think that whole season 31 thing has passed. I hope Moffat isn't overly compelled to please the marketing department.

I'm thinking we'll just have to wait until it comes out on DVD, and see what gets printed on the box. That should settle the matter once and for all.

Yeah, cos it'll never in a million years be called Season 31 on the DVD box anyway.

Honestly. Only on the internet could this ever be an issue. It's series 5 of the revival and season 31 of the whole franchise. Call it what you want. If it weren't for there being no Who on between TEOT and The Eleventh Hour, this wouldn't even be a debate. Just something to fill the gap and keep people talking about the show. Moffat should be applauded for stoking the fandom flames so easily.
