I got a Genesis, but my vote is for Super Nintendo. If I had an SNES, I would've been playing the original Bomberman (and it was four-player!) to death.

I loved 'em all... even TurboGrafx. The edge probably has to go to SNES though. Super Metroid, Final Fantasy II + III, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World, Contra 3, Super Ghouls and Ghosts (I know those two series had Genesis releases, but I didn't get into them as much), Star Fox, Zelda III... motherfuckin' Pilotwings...there was just a lot going on for that system.

I loved a lot on the Genesis too.. Phantasy Star games were pretty good, Sonic was crazy when it first came out. Blast processing indeed! I loved those damned Strike games... Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, etc... Honestly the Genesis got a lot of love when I got it in 1989 or whatever, but a couple of year later the SNES made up all the ground and then some. Mode 7 when tastefully uses was total win.

The color palette made a big difference in graphics, also, the SNES shipped with composite cables whereas my Genesis only had the RF thing. I thought that was the lamest thing ever as even the NES had normal RCA type composite outputs on the side... at the time I was like 8 or 9 so I didn't really know how to get an adapter, or if it was even possible, but my image quality naziism was in full effect even at that young age.

I think at the time I was more of a Sega fanboy though, as Genesis definitely had a harder edge that made you think you were cool when you were in grade school!

Mortal Kombat with sweat? That's for 3rd graders!

I have a Mega Drive - doesn't work anymore, unfortunately, it seems moving halfway around the world didn't do it much good - but I have to pick SNES for this poll. While the Mega Drive has Sonic, SNES has Chrono Trigger, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World 1 & 2, Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2 - 3 is complete shit, hence it's exclusion from this list - and Final Fantasy IV and VI.

DKC3 isn't anywhere as good as the first two, but it isn't completely bad (plus it's certainly graphically impressive).

SNES had a better assortment of games. On my homebrew wii i've got

Sega-

Sonic 2, Vectorman

SNES-

Chrono trigger
Megaman X and X3
Super Mario
Super Metroid
Donkey Kong
Earthworm Jim 2

Megadrive ftmfw :)

I still have mine :)

I used to have a Mega Drive, ended up donating it to a local youth club, so it's gets my vote. Not because I think it's so much better as much as out of nostalgic loyalty. Though I admittedly had only limited access to a SNES (my brother borrows one off a mate and it only had Mario All Stars, Street Fighter 2 & Donkey Kong) in reality I think they were pretty evenly matched in terms of how many good titles were on each system.

Nostalgia aside, what really tips it in Sega's favour for me was games like Mortal Kombat & Flashback. The Mega Drive just felt like a slightly more "grown-up" machine. Sort of how - broadly speaking - the Xbox 360 & PS3 appear to be perceived next to the Wii.

SNES for me. I played the Genesis and just never quite got into it. It had some good games, but I never saw anything quite to the caliber of Chrono Trigger, the Final Fantasy games, the Super Mario World games, etc.

I voted for the SNES because I think that it had the better library of games. From a graphics perspective, I don't really favor one over the other. The few times that I played a Genesis, I don't remember noticing a difference in graphics.

I also think that the SNES controller is better. SEGA did release a six button controller later on, but I prefer the SNES shoulder buttons over having to use one thumb on six different buttons.

Super NES. It had the Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Castlevania, DK Country, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy franchises, all releasing games that were damned near flawless in their scope and execution.

It has to be the SNES for me, all the way. As someone who usually got previous generation consoles nearing the end of their run, I got the Super Nintendo when it came out with the Killer Instinct promo. Black SNES, black controllers, black and red game cartridge, baby. Came with the Killer Cuts CD, a KI hat, and some awesome posters. I also played Super Mario I - III, All Stars, Yoshi's Island, Final Fantasy II & III, Batman Returns, Sunset Riders, Battletoads, Side Pocket, Sea Quest, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Toy Story, Mega Man X, Outlander, Wolfenstein 3D, Donkey Kong Country I - III, Blues Brothers, Earthworm Jim, Aladdin, Chrono Trigger, F-Zero, Urban Strike, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Fox, Paperboy, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, SimCity, Pilotwings, WWF: Wrestlemania Arcade, American Gladiators, Pitfall: Mayan Adventure, Mortal Kombat I - III, Street Fighter II, NHL '96, Wing Commander, Robocop 3, Shaq-Fu, Super Star Wars, Super Empire Strikes Back, Super Return of the Jedi, Wario's Woods, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a whole lot more! :D
