seeking a new home for 2 very nice cats in NY

Does anyone here happen to be from NY state? Possibly even the Utica area / Oneida country or at least that general area? Or do you maybe know someone from there? Or someone who knows someone?

A friend of mine is going to move in 2 weeks but isn't allowed to have pets at her new appartment. So she has to give them away and is terribly depressed about that.

If we could manage to find someone from her vicinity to take her cats, she could visit them occasionally and it'd be easier for her. The cats are well-behaved, very friendly, house trained, like being cuddled and are very close to humans (not the type that goes out on adventures for days).
If at all possible, they should stay together as having to leave their home and their owner is already quite a shock for them

I don't have any pics yet but I'll try to get some (and more info, too)

If you are from that general area, please consider if you might take the cats or if you perhaps know someone who might be interested. The cats are suitable for families with children just as well as for elderly or disabled people (they are familiar with crouches and wheel chairs and don't get in the way).

no prob, Ghostie :) That's what friends are there for, isn't it? With the stress of moving, having to give your cats away, worrying about everything going smooth etc, it's absolutely natural that you can't think of everything.

Ok, folks, so here is the promised info:

Both cats are Domestic Short Hair, spied/neutered, in perfect health. They are siblings, 5 years old and tall for their age.

Giddy Kitty is a friendly calico cat who loves to snuggle.
Did you know that in Germany cats of this particular colour are believed to bring good luck to their owners?
How about trying your luck with this beauty? (she doesn't normally look that sad - she just misses Ghost07 and feels lost in the pet sanctuary)

Giddy Kitty's profile can be found here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22223996

Her brother Julius is a gentle and charming grey and white male. He is playful and sometimes a little adventurous (as well becomes a brave male!) - the feline equivalent to a knight in shimmering armour

Don't they have awesome eyes? Almost the colour of key limes :adore::adore:

There is an adoption fee, but don't worry about it - it'll be my present for the new owners :) I'll call the office on Tuesday and arrange for it.

^ And hopefully together.

I would never give my cats up, but would hate to think of them ever getting split up.

I lived in Rome, NY for much of my youth (on and off base). Seeing those cats really puts a lump in my throat... and that they find a home together. I hope we hear later on that they did.

Thanks to you all :) I'd take them myself. Unfortunately, I live half a globe away :( (plus my landlady dislikes cats).
Still, if neither of us can take them, we still can help by spreading the word. Someone always knows someone who knows someone...

speaking of which: Spocked, do you still have relatives, friends or acquaintances in Rome or the vicinity? Do you think they might be interested? Or could they know someone who might?

I think you should post pics of the former owner that will be visiting. You might get more responses.;)

^True but Ghostie needs all the laughs she can get these weeks, I thought it might cheer her up a bit if I called her a spammer...

Too many decades have passed, I'm sorry to say. I have no more ties there. My sister lived in Watertown up until a few years ago; now living in Alabama.

I'm a dog person, but same idea. We had two, wife got one in the divorce. I'm a total wreck and so is the remaining dog. She keeps looking around for the rest of her pack.

That's just around the corner & down the road a piece

Awww, I'd say yes, but I'm a few thousand miles away. I hope that you find somewhere!

same here, but I live at the opposite side of the globe plus my landlady is a cat-hater :(

Maybe your sister still has contacts in NY whom she could ask? The wider the word gets spread, the better are our chances.

How about turning this into a game:

Find Ghostie's cats a new home before she herself moves to a new home

We have 15 days including today (Wednesday 15th).
