Section 31: Control news

Defcon

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
No release date yet, but the announced, then put on the back-burner follow-up to Disavowed is being written right now.

From @David Mack 's Twitter & Facebook:

I'm fighting those page-one blues as I start work on the manuscript for Star Trek: Section 31 – CONTROL. My solution? Open with bloodshed.

First night's work on the new ms. (STAR TREK: SECTION 31 – CONTROL) went well. Two scenes written for progress of 3,000 words. So it begins.

Long story short, a shift in my production schedule at Tor created an opportunity to get this book back on track, so I took it. The story's been approved, so now I am free to write the manuscript.

I was just going to post this, since the last quote you posted is David's reply to a question I asked him on Facebook.

So happy we're getting this novel!!

Finally. I really liked Section 31 - Disavowed and I'm really looking forward to a follow-up.

Yay! I'm so glad David is writing the sequel to Disavowed. Thanks for posting this news.

I'd believe the probability high that someone amongst our fandom would not be able to resist that temptation, yes.

I can just picture Worf saying, "Missed it by THAT MUCH" while Data misplaces his communicator, so he disconnects his foot and talks into it.

Unless Section 31 is too decentralised to ever really be destroyed.

The framing story of TGTMD would seem to imply that isn't the case. And I don't think it's possible for anything to actually be so decentralized that it can't be destroyed; that just makes it harder, not impossible.

Between CLBIII's future RotF novels dealing with Trip trying to topple 31 from within (obviously he fails or believes himself to have succeeded) and this novel, it looks like 2017 is shaping up to be the year of the morally shady black ops intelligence community.

Dave, have you and Chris shared notes? Any hope for any sly and fun STID Easter eggs since that movie dealt so heavily with 31? I know you guys can't reference openly, but I've found all kinds of goodies in Christopher's stuff...Just curious.

But wait a second, I thought Data kept his phone elsewhere:

No, we haven't compared notes. Our stories take place in different phases of the continuity and have very different focuses in terms of how we're depicting the agency known to some as Section 31….

I'm sure there have been plenty of anti-31 cabals and counter-conspiracies in history, with varying amounts of success and failure at rooting them out. They aren't exactly the best at making friends.

Seems like a long time ago since Vaughn said to Bashir: ''We'll begin to make plans" at the end of Abyss.

Well, Vaughn was part of the anti-Section 31 cabal that'd started with Kirk at the end of "Cloak". They've been working at it for over a century already.
