I haven't participated in a Secret Santa for quite a few years. I've participated in a few at various places I've worked and I always seemed to end up with people I hardly knew so I'd have to fall back on the unimaginative box of chocolates or some such. At my last place of work we didn't bother with it because money was so tight for everyone as most of us had recently had our hours cut. We spent an evening getting sloshed while playing bingo, which was much more fun than a Secret Santa.

I did it in grade school once and I hope to hell I never have to do it again. If I want to get someone a gift then I'll get them one; I don't want to have to get some idiot a gift just because I'm in the same building as them.
