Second Special Confirmed At Xmas

Which does raise the question of when the last two will be shown.

Personally I'd put 14.16 on the 19th of December, 14.17 on the 25th and 14.18 on the 1st of January.

Unless it's another case of the first one being a prologue to the last two a la Utopia and Turn Left.

And judging by the shooting that went on at the weekend it does appear to end on a cliffhanger that leads straight into Tennant's final story.

Whatever the truth they'd have to be mad to show a stand-alone episode on Xmas Day itself rather than the first part of Tennant's last story.

On the one hand, I could see the producers thinking that a standalone story would make better Christmas Day viewing than a (probably continuity heavy) part one. On the other hand, all available information suggests that the second special is a darker futuristic horror story, not quite Christmas fare either, and there doesn't seem to be any Christmas-specific set dressing or content yet.

I was kinda hoping that maybe there'd be a late summer special, with the last two parter maybe being X-Mas Day and Boxing Day...Gonna be a great end of year though!

To be fair the Beeb have been saying the Specials would finish in the "New Year period" 2010 for a while now.

Looks like I might be right (or at least close). According to the letter that was sent to the residents of the street where they were shooting last weekend the second Special is due to air before Xmas 09. The question now being "how soon before Xmas 09"?
