Season TWO OFFICIAL TNG Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

Joining in the chorus for Deep Space Nine Remastered! I would buy every season at what ever price they would ask for it.

From the final part of the interview the idea of seperating the music from the rest of the audio sounds like a great idea especially if its so easy to do! Hope they start doing that ASAP!

Absolutely, Deep Space Nine remastered would be awesome! Hopefully there's enough demand for it (and TNG sells well enough). Dominion War in HD! Oh boy, just thinking of episodes like Sacrifice of Angels, Call to Arms, Way of the Warrior, etc, all remastered on blu-ray is making me drool :D

Of course, you'd have to put up with two pretty boring seasons of episodes like Move Along Home and The Storyteller before you get to the good stuff at the end that everyone wants... :p

Still, add me for wanting it, CBS!

^ Actually DS9's second season is the thing I'm most looking forward to see in remastered form. My favorite season of the show.

But then again, I was never a Star Trek fan because of the battle scenes we get in the later seasons.

The CBS interview was great. Very interesting stuff in it.

Was there to be some info on the unknown special feature on the Season 2 Bluray? I didn't see any hints at stuff we don't know about already (cast reunion interview).

Well, Season 2 is my third favorite season of the show (Behind Seasons 5 and 4) so if I decided to get DS9 Remastered, I wouldn't have to wait long to get one of my favorite seasons. Besides, getting the circle trilogy in HD would be Awesome.

I hope the "surprise" isn't just the never before seen bloopers as I think those are pretty much already known to be included in S2.

Either way, I'm pumped for S2 and I'll also throw it out there that DS9 in HD is a MUST. It's arguably the greatest writing on any Trek series even though it's often considered the "black sheep" of the family.

Re: Season TWO OFFICIAL TNG Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

Well, big surprise or not, this is certainly very good news for me, as I love to see Muldaur talk about Pulaski. I know she's not particularly fond of her time on the show, but I'm sure she has some interesting insights to share nonetheless. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to interview bits with her. As if there weren't enough reasons to get this set already. :D

Also, am I the only one who thinks Muldaur looks almost better now than 25 years ago? I don't know, I just think she aged really well. She looks great!

The thing about DS9 S1 is that it really sags badly in the middle. The first few episodes are fairly good, and the last two episodes are a couple of the best in the whole show ("Duet" is quite possibly my very favourite), but the run from "Babel" to "Dramatis Personae" is an uneven mix of the half decent ("Nagus", "Vortex", "Battle Lines", even "Progress") and the abominable ("Move Along Home", "If Wishes Were Horses", "Dramatis Personae"). Some of that is the show leaning too hard on TNG tropes rather than going their own way, however.

Definitely want to see it either way. It's a better series than TNG S1!

She does look very well.

Hell I would buy the season just to see Emissary remastered. Add to Duets and In the Hands of the Prophets and your way ahead of the quality of TNG season 1, way ahead. And to think that the sets in HD (I hate the set work of TNG).

I do slightly prefer TNG overall to DS9, mostly because of the main cast. The casting for that show was amazing. I didn't quite connect with DS9's cast as much (although I love O'Brien and Quark), but they were still much better than the cast of Enterprise or Voyager IMO.

It was the amazing writing that kept me hooked and made the show awesome. They weren't afraid to try new things for the franchise. There were some really awesome recurring characters as well. Garak, Weyoun, Dukat, Kai Winn, Martok, Eddington and, of course, Morn!

Anyway, I consider TNG and DS9 to be far and away the best of the Trek series, so I'd LOVE to have them both remastered.

Oh and great to hear about the Diana Muldaur interview for Season 2! :-P

I still belive the surprise is the Star Trek Phase II footage. There is ahttps://twitter.com/BurnettRMRobert Meyer Burnett tweet from the 26th of September that says:

The dude in this STAR TREK PHASE II footage is totally wearing a LOGAN'S RUN costume. #TNGS2

I clearly remember that the day after the post somebody asked that where will we see this, and he said on December the 4th, although I don't find that comment right now (maybe it was deleted, to keep the surprise, but you can see the #TNGS2 tag anyhow on the initial post). So it seams that there was some Phase II footage (probably test footage), and now it will be incorporated as an extra, and I really think it is a logical choice, as the premier episode of season 2 is based on a Phase II script, changing the characters (it should have been Ilia getting pregnant on Phase II), so the connection to Phase II of Season 2 of TNG is evident.

It's a good theory, but someone remarked that the Phase II screentest was already included as a DVD extra on some movie release before. I never actually saw it, but if it's been released before it can't be the big surprise, no?

Brand new Diana Muldaur interview confirmed for Season 2!

Awesome. Can't wait. :techman:

This is great news.

If this is the surprise, I'm impressed. Should be very interesting!

Although this news was revealed by Burnett on Twitter yesterday, so maybe it's not the secret feature FrontierTrek's been hinting at. (unless FT went ahead and published it only after it become public knowledge anyway.)
