Season 8 theme music

I like the visuals, but like others have said the music is way too shrill. The last Doctor who theme song i really liked was Tennant's. Matt Smith got an ok one, but Eccelston and Tennant's themes were great and really got me excited for an episode. This new one is easily the worst. I may not have been a huge fan of Smith's, but it wasn't bad. This new song just sucks.
I expect the clockwork gears are staying. Those episodes in season 7 kept essentially the same content, it just got darker each episode and the logo was unique to the episode.
I am warming up to the new theme.
That said, I think the "Save the Day" remix was criminally underused with just that one anniversary trailer.
I wound't have minded that to hear in the opening credits as well.

To me the current theme is far more evocative of the Seventh Doctor's theme (shrillness and all) rather than the original theme.
With that said, I appreciate that they're trying to be different (as different as you can while sampling, that is), but it's just... blah. The creepy scifi-ness to it is a nice touch, but it's just there, without a lot of bombast or anything to make it memorable. And, once again, Gold really likes to subdue the baseline, which is my favorite part of the theme.
And yes, the "Save the Day" theme really needs to be released and put back into the show. It was fantastic seeing all the Doctors together with this song during that commercial, especially when Sarah Jane* and Pertwee come up just when the trumpets blare.

The music's a call back to the eighties, and a little high-pitched but otherwise sufficient. A budget cut, perhaps, to save money on a full-blown orchestra?

Yeah people complain about the Tennant theme being too fast, but that also gave it a great sense of energy as well, and it always thrilling when the opening teaser would transition into that credit sequence.
And I thought the first Smith theme did that really well too. But this new one just has no real energy or kick to it at all.

Didn't Tennant's second theme (From season 4 and the specials) also have a bit of 80sness to it?
Also it's hardly the worst version IMO:that would be the 'boingy' theme used during Pertwee's time around the 10th anniversary, or the 'salsa' theme used for the videotape retrospectives that came out in the 90s.

I also very much dislike it, it's like the Doctor came from a humble country band, washboard and all. But I seem to recall that Pertwee was actually quite fond of it (though I could be severely misremembering).
To each their own, but it doesn't really offer anything new that we haven't seen/heard before (aside from the echoes at the end), especially when compared to Eleven's Series 7 intro. If we had this instead of the clockwork intro, I think it'd be pretty boring.

For me it's the exact opposite. I love the titles and I don't like the theme.
I'm not often critical of Doctor Who, but the new theme arrangement is just terrible. It feels like an attempt to ape the Howell arrangement of the 1980 season, but it fails miserably.
The graphics are fine. I hope they replace the tune next season (or by Christmas preferably).

This. I'm liking the graphics a little more and the music even less. It's so shrill it actually hurts my ears. I like the bells that are subtly inserted at the beginning but towards the end, it just makes me cringe. I really hope they tweak it a little, because I LOVE the theme and have liked all the versions so far.....but I just hate this version.
