I mean, Kirk's changed from Season 1 to Season 2. Uhura's routinely changed over the course of the series. And do I even need to mention Scotty's bangless "bob' that he sported early in Season 3 that eventually went back to bangs by the end of TOS?
Oh, I think I figured it out, it's the lighting in the posters. I have a light sensitivity. I'll think I've mapped all the ways it causes me to see differently than the rest of you, but then I'll occasionally stumble on another one, which is probably what is happening now. This "wait, you're seeing what?" phenom usually only comes up in the real world (sun can fuck. me. up.), which is why I didn't think of it first for these screen images.
In case people were unclear, I wasn't saying the cuts were different, I was saying the effect was different and I couldn't figure out why. I thought it was the product/styling or photoshop, but I'm concluding it's the way these studio lights were interacting with the product in their hair, which apparently only my Saru-like eyes can perceive.
And of course it's not a continuity complaint, that's a weird thing to project onto my post. Obviously hair can change. I mean, I even did that as a job, during the assistant-to-the-producer phase of my career. My bosses often had no higher priority than redoing the hair of the sexy female series regulars every fucking episode, so consequently my main duty was wrangling these endless actor hair cuts/restyles. (Huh, that's probably another element here -- years of my professional life required me to be able to immediately perceive and articulate minor differences in hair)

Anybody know if Uhura will have graduated from the Academy by the time S2 starts?
I mean, they're only six or seven years away from TOS, and she's a full Lieutenant by then...so if she's still a cadet she's got some catching up to do!

She doesn't have the cadet badge in the new posters they released. Paramount calls her an ensign in the description.

Minimum promotion time in current US NAVY is two years as an ensign. No reason to rush things along. She will have plenty of time in grade.
Maybe? But she still wears her Fourth Year Cadet insignia in that episode so she still gives off the visual vibe of being a Cadet doing ship service.
Could be like Saavik.
Yeah, probably wouldn’t get an official promotion until she was back at the Academy and finished her fourth year.
