A couple people from the show said they would like to be back before 2019, but it is unlikely.

What's your record for predictions now? Like 0-10? You'd think you'd learn not to take producer's pre-season premiere statements so literally after a while because they have a vested interest in preserving spoilers, but you keep falling for it time and time again. It wouldn't even be that big a deal if you just kept making wrong predictions; but you have to be so adamant about it and insulting to anyone else who disagrees... every damn time, and you're ALWAYS wrong. STiD, GoT, Westworld, DSC... I bet you'd have predicted that the Titanic wouldn't sink at the end of the film if James Cameron had said it in an article. I keep hoping that you'll consider your previous track record before making the same mistakes again, but it never happens.

That's what I thought.........Mostly going to be dependant on the VFX. I doubt we get an official release date until August or September. IF we get any episodes at all in 2018 I would think they would be late Nov-Dec.........

Funny. Everything you said was correct.

That said, a young Spock flashback was a little out of left field, so one less prone to failure would be safe in assuming it to be unlikely.

No excuses for whatshisname tho.

Not exactly. I remember the week the premiere aired someone said that even if a renewal came down this very instant the soonest we could expect a second season to air would be "early 2019" and we didn't actually get a renewal until something like three weeks later or something, leading many to just assume sometime in 2019 would be when season 2 would premiere. Though for now everyone seems to believe it will premiere this fall. Whatever, I guess theoretically speaking there's no reason why it can't. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Yeah---While it sounds great I would like more than--"my inside man says". Many things can delay production. I will cross fingers though. Maybe this weekends panel will drop some official info.

For the record, the OP was one hundred percent correct about the start of production. It would seem his source was more legitimate than you guys gave it credit for being.

Source? Preproduction started weeks ago. Actors arrived last week to rehearse. Actual cameras started rolling Monday. OP seems to be gone from the BBS. And as far as 15 episodes.......everyone official says 13. It is possible I guy to expand to 15 during the edit phase, like they did last year if they have too much footage. Finally, while CBS may PUSH to get the premiere out in 2018, there has been no official announcement. If you have updated real info please share with the class.
