I'd love it if Discovery had used ALL of Axanar's designs and TOS aesthetics...... would have served ALL sides much better.

Honestly, I'm not really enthused with the idea that CBS might have sped up production in order to get the show out in late 2018. Unless it means there will be less smeary, overprocessed space shots. They should take as long to do the second season right as possible - just like any streaming show now does. I'd rather wait another six months for quality than get something potentially dodgy a bit earlier, because the six months without Trek will whiz by, but rushed product will be part of Trek forever.
5 months to film and edit an episode is hardly "sped up production". Plus this season has the benefit of being written since November, in pre-production since January, and more crew and presumably budget than last year.
Even if some don't like Quinto's spock ... he is the rightful heir to the character and I don't think anyone else should play Spock. It needs to be a cameo by Quinto or Spock is not on board. Just please don't let the emergency be "The Search For Spock 2.0" leading up to finding Quinto.
They really just need Quinto's time for one day of production to hit have him in a couple scenes.
Oh - and the Enterprise crew MUST have the alternate TOS style uniforms that we could see out of focus glimpses of in the finale.
Because they're all too old to play the roles during the time Discovery takes place?

Spock is supposed to be 26 at the time that Discovery takes place, Zachary Quinto is now 40. I guess he could pass for mid-20s, since he doesn't appear to have lost much hair or gone gray yet, but it might get hairy if Discovery continues for several more seasons and he becomes recurring.
And Mary Wiseman (barring a creative backstory for Tilly) is 32 playing a just-graduated 22-23 year old. Pretty sure 90210 syndrome is unavoidable at this point.
Season 2 episodes should churn out at a faster rate since most of the sets are already established and the main VFX virtual models are already in place. Filming in April and premiering in September is plenty of time. This is not a rush at all for the production. Also long as the writing team is not rushed with the story lines everything should be fine
I want a brand new actor for Spock.
Wigs or hair-dye are wonderful things.
