Season 1: Your Top Three Favorite Characters

Pike and Spock... it's depressing to be following the herd here. With La'an as the third, but lots of others in the running.

I didn't follow the herd because for me Spock wasn't a character that I was looking forward to seeing again. Between TOS, the movies, and TNG, I felt the character has had his day in the sun. Of course he has to be on the show because the character served on Pike's ship, but I was more interested in learning about Number One/Una.

I voted for Pike because I wanted a Pike show since I was 12. The rest is a bonus, if only because there is more to the show than Pike.

I went Pike, Chapel, & Una.

The first two were easy. Mount is doing a fantastic job and the whole fate v self-determination thread of his character (with Una putting her hands on the scales) is very well done.

Chapel's development has been fantasic as has been the development of the Spock/Chapel dynamic hinted at in TOS' "Naked Time." Jess is killing it.

Spock seems an obvious choice for #3, but I resisted picking him for a number of reasons. I did not want to choose another TOS character. And I just think he always gets picked. The work Peck has done on SNW & DISCO has been fantastic. The Spock/T'Prung & Spock/Chapel relationships well done. As with Spock/Pike. I just didn't want teo TOS characters.

In retrospect, I should have gone with La'an, as that would have given me an original SNW character, a Cage character, and a TOS. But I went with Una instead. When I rewatched, "Ghosts of Illyria" really grew on me. Una & La'an playing Enterprise bingo was hillarious.

Hemmer, Ortegas, Uhura, & M'Benga are all well done as well.

Chapel.
1. She is hot and I have a major crush on her even though I am a dirty old 47 year old.

2. The character is awesome and kick ass.

3. The actress does an outstanding job playing her.

Pike, Spock, Chapel. Una a very close 4th.

Hemmer is easily one of my favorite characters. I was gut punched when he was killed off.

I think that is the power of original characters... they have every chance to die, so like you said, it would be indeed a gut punch if they died... as odds are that it would be permanent

HM to Ortegas who seems like she has the potential to be a lot of fun if they gave her more screentime. Hope she doesn't get Travis Mayweather'd. It is hard to find things for the helmsman to do a lot of the time since they're stuck on the ship so often.
