Season 1: Your Top Three Favorite Characters

I realize there are recurring characters in this show, but this is for the main cast. I also specified Season 1 as we have already seen the loss of one character and who knows whom else we lose as the series goes on.

Mine are Captain Pike, Number One and Joseph M'Benga. Both Pike and Number One were the characters I was most interested in seeing when this show was announced and the writers did a great job with both of them. I can't wait to see what happens with them next season.

I came REALLY close to choosing La'an Noonien -Signh for my third choice, but the doctors whole storyline with his daughter was just too good for me to pass up.

I have to say I honestly like everyone in the cast; both the actors and the way the characters are written and performed.

For me my first two favorites are easy and locked:
1 - Christopher Pike
2 - Spock

The third can change depending on my mood; and the episode, but overall I have to say I really enjoy what they've done with the character of Christine Chapel, and I love Jess Bush in the role.

Pike, Spock, Singh, Ortegas, Una, Hemmer and Chapel are my top three.
For those who think I can't count, those picks are numbers 1, 1-1/3, 1-2/3, 2, 2-1/3, 2-2/3 and 3.

I chose Pike, La'an, and Chapel - I left out Spock because even though he's amazing, Spock transcends series categorisation. I really loved the way they developed Chapel - the writing and acting was great. As a long time fan of tough girls, I love La'an. She reminds me of Tasha Yar a lot and I like how they managed to turn the Gorn into a seriously frightening threat via her trauma and experience. It's a well-written show and they develop characters in a traditional way. Yes, there are a few underdeveloped in there (really interested in Ortegas) but, just as in real life, you can't explore everyone all at once.
