But it is a valid point. I think Abbey Road is the Beatles' best album. It is, however, not my favorite.

I have always liked 11001001. Though "The Big Goodbye" is very close.

I voted Conspiracy. It's my favorite of the first season. And it's also the best.

It has my favourite line from season one - "P for Picard!"

Another favourite bit of mine from season one is the bit in Conspiracy where Picard dodges Remmick's phaser beam.

Conspiracy was a great episode. Dexter Remmick as the Bluegill Queen...What a twist!

Conspiracy #1 for me. Probably one of my top 5 TNG episodes of all time.

2. Arsenal of Freedom. I like that they actually take advantage of the ensemble cast in this episode.

So many good lines in this one.

Yar: "They make love at the drop of a hat - any hat!"
Worf: "Nice planet!"
Picard: "There can be no justice as long as laws are absolute!"

I like the costumes too and the whole throwback to TOS/Greek mythology story of the Captain defying a god and winning.

I'm surprised WNOHGB isn't at the top!! Yes it had Wes is in it a lot but it had a great story involving quantum mechanics, and thoughts being the source reality (very buddhist too) a truly "alien" alien, honest to goodness exploration and the best FX of any science fiction show in the history of TV up till that time.

This list really contradicts the idea the season one had few good episodes. Personally along with WNOHGB, I like 1101001, Datalore, Conspiracy, Arsenal of Freedom, Heart of Glory, Homesoil, Neutral Zone, The Big Goodbye, Too Short a Season, and a few others were entertaining.

I agree with you that season 1 gets a bad rap. There are some legitimately good sci-fi episodes and concepts mixed in. However, I think presence of the really really bad episodes makes people forget there's a lot of good stuff in there.
