Sean Connery is dead.

A Vesper Martini toast to Connery, Sean Connery.

A wonderful Idea! I was just on my way to the liquor store. Not sure what I'll do with all that vermouth...

He played a Spainiard in Highlander and a Russian in The Hunt for Red October, but didn't he still use his Scottish accent for both movies?

Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez was Egyptian.

(And, yes, Connery almost never strayed from his native accent. The only time I can really recall him doing so was his attempt at an Irish brogue in The Untouchables, and ... um ... yeah, we just forget that part of the movie.)

He also “did” an Irish accent In Darby O’Gill And the Little People

I watched From Russia With Love and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in his memory.
James Bond and Henry Jones, Sr. very different characters, but both had a way with the ladies.

Actually, that's the only scene I remember. (Washing the dishes...) ;)

I am old enough to have seen Dr No in movie theaters. I was a kid but it was an incredible experience and I was totally hooked. He was great, will always be the best Bond. RIP

Best Bond ever!
One of my favorite films The Untouchables with Scottish Connery playing an Irish American cop with his own accent, he pulled it off and won an Oscar.

And supposedly Scottish Connor MacLeod was played by a Frenchman.

In conclusion, Highlander is a land of contrasts.
There’s a funny stand up bit about all this. Just wish I could remember who did it so I could find it on YouTube. Basically, it’s a spoof of when Ramirez and MacLeod meet and one of the lines is “Hallo, my is Ramirez. I’m from Madrid. It’s right outside Edinburgh.” (In a passable Connery).

The sheer audacity of not only casting a Frenchman in the lead in a film of that name, but casting him opposite the worlds most famous Scotsman - who doesn’t play a Scot but plays an Egyptian with a Spanish name - is why Highlander is one of the greatest bad films ever made. I absolutely love it.
