Sean Connery is dead.

Rear Admiral
Out of my childhood heroes, Sean, Robert Conrad (Wild, Wild West), Adam West (THE Batman, dammit), Patrick Macnee (the real Avengers), and Leonard Nimoy are gone. I could include Patrick McGoohan (The Prisoner) but he was more a teenage hero, I didn’t really get The Prisoner until I was a bit older. All’s left is William Shatner, who slept with the sexiest aliens ever, and only ever needed 90 seconds to save the universe. May he live forever.

What are your memories?

SNL can do a Dead Celebrity Jeopardy featuring Darrell Hammond as Connery, Jimmy Fallon as Robin Williams, and Andy Kaufman as Elvis.

Just to add, I attended a late night viewing of the 1960's Batman at the Underground Theater in Toronto a few years back. Adam West was there and did a Q&A after the show,
It was an amazing experience being in the theatre with a couple of hundred other fans, laughing at all of the gags in the movie. I suddenly didn't feel alone in loving all the shlock. Adam was an amazing guest and I loved his Q&A. Got in line the next day at FanCon and he autographed my pic of him, Burt, and Yvonne in the Siamese Human Knot. We had a laugh, and no, I'll never sell it.
I'm glad I got to meet at least one of those guys.

"“It is with such sadness that I heard of the passing of one of the true greats of cinema,” Craig said in a statement. “Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more. He defined an era and a style. The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster. He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course.”"

I love this.

I'm too young to appreciate his James Bond work. My memories of Connery are more Indiana Jones, The Rock, Red October (I don't know if I ever saw this film, I do confuse it with Crimson Tide though) and Dragonheart.

I grew up watching Bond movies in a second-run theater. Saw Outland there too. Connery was kind of a hero to me.

He isn't my favorite Bond, but no matter where you rank him, he deserves a huge amount of respect and recognition for making the role what it is.
He had a lot of other great roles over the years other than Bond that are often overshadowed.
RIP

The best Bond. And that's kind of a big deal for me - I'm a fan. From Russia With Love especially.

Only Casino Royale matched Connery's run for me. But good as Craig is...Connery is Bond.

If you fancy something different from him, try Robin and Marian.
