SDCC -or- Hollywood Whorehouse

I'm sure they must sell some form of guaranteed panel seating package anyway?

Nope. They don't even guarantee seating to people with press credentials. The press, who report about the con, have to get in line with everyone else.

Honestly, I can understand that because quite frankly anyone and everyone is press now and if they gave precedence to press people would just start up websites and whatnot just to get first access (which happens at nearly every other con/trade show).

But you'd think even reserving 500 seats for premium ticket holders or something would be a no brainer. If there's a specific panel that someone desperately wants to go to, that would be a way to get in without all the hassle.

ComicCon, this year, really had no big DC/Marvel/Top Cow panel, at all. Nothing to look forward to for next year in the comic lores? I guess DC/Marvel thinks people are no longer interested in comics, given that Secret Invasion, Seige, Final Crisis or Blackest Night didn't even make an impact in recent years. New comic fans still talk about The Phoenix Saga or Original Crisis. Recent big time events have all but been forgotten. Its sad to see ComicCon devolve into something for Gleeks and other non-comic related shows.

^^^Wow. Really? I went to about 4 or 5 DC panels over the course of the weekend and that was out of about 15 or so (counting spotlights on various DC writers and artists) total over the course of the convention. In fact, here's a partial sample of just DC panels:

Thurs.

10:15 DC Comics writers unite
11:30 DC Nation Convention Kickoff
2:00 DC Focus: Geoff Johns
4:30 DC Comics 75th Anniversary

Fri.
12:30 DC Focus: Grant Morrison
1:45 DC: Batman: The Return
3:00 DC: Superman: Man of Tomorrow
4:15 DC Nation Special Edition

Sat.
10:00 DC: Mad about MAD
12:30 DC Universe: Event Horizon
2:00 Green Lantern: Emerald Empire
4:30 Spotlight on J. Michael Straczynski

Sun.
11:00 DC Kids: Aww Yeah
2:00 DC Focus: Premiere Teams
3:00 DC Town Hall Meeting

Marvel had about as many and then there are the other companies like Darkhorse, BOOM!, IDW, etc. and all the How-to panels, comic book documentaries, comic book history panels, and so on and so forth.

With all due respect, what convention were you at?

Put me in a room with that many people and I think I'd need some sharp objects too. I went down to the harbor today to see some old fashioned sailing ships come in and got clipped by some ass on bike and nearly trampled by a herd of people cattle just walking there. :shifty:
