Screw Khan! I want the Borg for Trek 12!

I agree can't we do new things? Look at Star Trek 6, the bad guy was only one ship and was a Klingon, trying to kill another Klingon. That was different.

Let's do something different, however i would love to see bad guy Klingons again, I miss those days.

How about a Khan that is a Borg!!

"I've done far worse than kill you. I've assimilated you and I wish to go on assimilating you. I shall leave you as you left me. Assimilated for all eternity in the center of a Borg cube. Resistance is futile...futile...futile..."
"BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

Let's regurgitate everything!!!

The nu-Borg... Millions of drones out for assimilation, but there are also human-type borg. 8 original models to be exact. Khan, Finnegan, Charlie Evans & Gary Mitchell all will fall into this catagory. Only nuKirk and co. can save the day. By the end of the movie you will find out that Spock, Sulu, Uhura and Pike are all skinjob Borgs as well, and they have A PLAN...

What do you think?

Ok i think im gonna regurgitate now.

Title pretty sums up this post. I don't think revisiting Khan is a good idea for the next sequel. I'd rather see Kirk and co. take on the Borg. Come up with some MacGuffin as to why they encounter them earlier than they should and you have a kick ass film. Hell if they're going to change the timeline let's see how 23rd century Starfleet can stand up to the Borg.:borg::bolian: Any takers?

In 'Countdown', Nero's ship was augmented with Borg technology. Doesn't have to be canon, but the writers of Trek XI wrote Countdown (damned good it is too)

Yes, because obviously the 24th century Starfleet just mops the floor with the Borg. :p

Are you on crack? Seriously?

Right, I will say yes, but on the basis that the movie is done correctly. Not in the sence that it's done in the old style of TNG, but I'd want something that was a little like Alien.

This is basically what I think the brief outline COULD revolve around, or something I would be happy with if they use the Borg.

The Borg are never properally named or seen properally during the events of the entire movie (ala the Aliens from.. Alien), they don't do the whole "Resistance is futile" line, except maybe one passing reference. Something in the lines of, when the blackhole was created, a wormhome formed in the Delta quadrant and a Borg cube went through. They obviously try to assimilate Earth, perhaps even get to assimilate the Enterprise and have it destroyed.

Something along those lines, it sounds crap when I listen to it, but I know what I want to say in my mind and it sounds right. Personally I want to see something with the cardassians and not Borg.

Sorry, but I come down in the 'No. Borg. Ever. Again.' camp. STAR TREK made Trek fresh and fun again. I hope JJ continues down that path.

I have to say that I would not mind seeing the Cardassians in STXII, not as villains per say but as an aggressive rival power to the Federation:shifty:

The Borg have been so badly overused, I'd say they need at least ten years before trying to use them again.

Cardassians have yet to appear on the big screen. Wouldn't mind them appearing in some future movie.

Like "Q" they were cheapened by Star Trek Voyager... But instead of being reduced to mere comic relief they just became vague Alien Invaders....

I agree the Borg became relatively bland wallpaper in Voyager like the TNG/DS9 Klingons even if I found "Dark Frontier" and First Contact to be mindless fun, while see 7 of 9 as an almost unsung heroine of Star Trek.

However I thought Q was already a comical Puck character from the onset and many pre-VOY episodes featuring him like "Encounter at Far Point", "Q-Less", "Qpid", and "Hide and Q" were as dismal (or worse) than "The Q and the Grey" and "Q2". The other Q episodes range from good ("Q Who?", "Death Wish", "Deja Q", and "True Q") to classic ("Tapestry" and "All Good Things").

Why should we have supervillains like the Borg and Dominion again when they have already been done to death throughout the 90s and early 2000s? They could be hinted at and have cameo appearances, it would interesting to see how they're both been asthetically revamped, but we've got a clean slate for a reason. Why not have underused antagonists like the Gorn or Theolions again, in addition to original races? And while not bad guys, I would love to see the First Federation on the big screen.

Put me down for the Cardassians too. One of the points in this thread is that I want the new films to do something different. Frankly I'm sick of the Klingons and we've had Romulans for the past two films. Doing Khan to me feels like a rethread and the feat of finding someone to play him will be daunting (they can go with the guy who played Robao).
The Borg can be presented in a fresh, threatening way, up the stakes a bit (maybe have Earth or a major character assimilated). But getting back to the Cardassians, they have a plethora of background and material to mine. One thing to do is to show how they became the militaristic society we saw in DS9.

BTW I would love to see the Tholians. It would be really kick ass to see them on the big screen!
