Scratching Around.....

Plumster

Commander
...for information seems to be the order of the day here.

I predict dry months ahead for forumisters on the subject of the new Trek movie. Some of the threads in here are really at the bottom of the barrel just like this one - a few piccies - pointless interviews with cast who've signed secrecy agreements......we think we know a few things.......I suspect we know nothing of substance however.

A thread about no information in other threads.

Could all this waiting, combined with JJ's obsession for secrecy alienate the fan base to a degree? I still maintain the hardcore fan base will never forgive JJ for his version of Trek that pays no homage to their version or even their opinions.

The end result could all be a big let down given the amount of internet time we've invested talking about it regardless of where we sit with regard to this re-boot of the franchise.....

I'm of mixed opinion on the issue.

I don't like going to a new movie completely spoiled. So generally speaking, I applaud the level of secrecy surrounding the film.

However, I do think that there can be too much of a good thing. And we may just be there on this film. I think it would have been nice to have had a few more tidbits thrown at us. Not to spoil the film...but more to keep the interest/hype from starving to death while we are waiting.

To keep buzz going, you need to throw out a tidbit here and there. Nothing big, because as we all know, Trek fans will salivate over the tiniest morsel.

But enough to keep the buzz going...and even building.

the new movies called Star Trek the enterprise returns

It's January. The movie comes out early May. Toy Fair is in February. Expect merchandising and a media blitz in April. Dry months ahead? Please.

Thank God for JJ's secrecy. It sucks watching a brand-spankin' new movie and reciting the dialog at the same time they do on screen.

I'm at that awkward point where I don't want more spoilers, but I want to see the movie now. It's kinda like filling up on junk food hours before your favorite meal.

Yeah, I am sure we will see at least one more trailer, some more stills, and advertising like crazy. I was on espn.com earlier and there were 2 huge banner ads there. Kind of cool that at least the advertising for this movie is going where no star trek had gone before.
I think overall we are going to see more stuff, but like Space Cowboy, I really don't want more spoilers... :(
