Scrabble to allow proper nouns - is this the end of civilization?

^Unless you're playing Super Scrabble, in which case there are two X tiles! I don't need references. Give me a word and I can tally it's worth in Scrabble points in my head! :)

^^ I think you've been playing too much Scrabble somehow... ;) Mind you, you'd have come in useful during our work's last pub quiz (one of the questions was about Scrabble letter values). :)

It's not like you're not allowed to play by your own house rules.
But honestly, who here has played Scrabble recently? (online doesnt count)

Hubby gave up playing Scrabble (the board game0 with me back in the early 90s. He said I won all the time and played to block me, not to win. Hell, I even cheated to lose to try and get him to play again.

As for other games of "Scrabble"--we play that all the time.*

* A family story, where my crazy Grandmother, while in the hospital, yelled so that everyone on the damn floor could hear, that my parents "played Scrabble all day and had sex all night." My parents were in their 70s at the time. Since then, "playing Scrabble" is synonymous with "having sex" in conversations between me and Mom.

What's next? A repo-man piece in Monopoly? A 3rd player option in Battleship? Tooth Decay Dungeon in Candyland? Connect One?! Where will it end?! It's a slippery slope my friends... a slippery slope.

I couldn't disagree with this rule change more and it will never be accepted in any Scrabble game I play. The only "rule change" I've accepted is a "home-rule" my family came up with concerning the blank. (In essence you can "buy it" if you have the letter its supposed to represent on your rack.)

But proper nouns? No way. That'd just be silly and I'd love to see how the player's dictionary/word list pulls it off.
