Ok..let's see...
Assuming adequate, full-time food supply...
Spock said Tribbles multiply at a rate of 10 every 12 hours
Tribbles average 9" in diameter
They take up about 1/2 a cubic foot at their largest
An average house has about 25,000 cubic feet
Approximately 50,000 Tribbles would fill a house, and take about 60 hours to do so
There are about 3×10^80 cubic meters in the visible universe
This is very roughly equivalent to about one third of that number in a cubic foot (two Tribbles)
At a rate of 50,000 Tribbles per 60 hours, filling 25,000 cubic feet, to fill the visible Universe with Tribbles would take until about the time Data was exploring his Full Functionality, and net about a Bazillion Tribbles...
...and that is a lot!
...I'd say Scotty did the Universe a favor...
