Scotty and.....Tribblecide!!!

Ok..let's see...

Assuming adequate, full-time food supply...

Spock said Tribbles multiply at a rate of 10 every 12 hours
Tribbles average 9" in diameter
They take up about 1/2 a cubic foot at their largest
An average house has about 25,000 cubic feet
Approximately 50,000 Tribbles would fill a house, and take about 60 hours to do so
There are about 3×10^80 cubic meters in the visible universe
This is very roughly equivalent to about one third of that number in a cubic foot (two Tribbles)
At a rate of 50,000 Tribbles per 60 hours, filling 25,000 cubic feet, to fill the visible Universe with Tribbles would take until about the time Data was exploring his Full Functionality, and net about a Bazillion Tribbles...

...and that is a lot!

...I'd say Scotty did the Universe a favor...

And to take this in an even more alarmist direction, what if the tribbles mutate into carnivorous creatures? They seem to be omnivours, they ate a chicken sandwich, but once they develop into predators, it will be like schools of fluffly land pirahna. They'll skeletonize a cow in 30 seconds!

I have a feeling anyone could fight off Tribbles. Kirk had a bunch fall on him and he didn't seem hurt.

They were dead. If it was like Night of the Living Dead, then the dead tribbles would eat the brains of the living!

The tribbles got into the food processors and a couple of them showed up in Kirk's chicken sandwich and coffee. No indication that they ate any of it.

Still, I suspect tribbles are more or less omnivorous. They're opportunistic feeders and will probably eat just about anything organic.

^^ @scotpens

...hmmm...I thought the tribbles did eat the sandwich and drink the Joe...

...ok, let's see...

...at an average of 8 0z. per cup and 225g per sandwich, how many Tribbles would it take to...

:)
