Damon plays a whistleblower (corporate informant) and Bakula's character is an FBI agent who "handles" him in an investigation. It's based on a true story, but it looks like it's more comedic, in the style of Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can (also a true story starring Leonardo DiCaprio) from a few years back.

Here's a trailer:

OMG, that FBI hair... :guffaw:Thanks for the link, bluedana!

It looks fun. The "Ocean's 11" etc movies were a kick, so I hope this one is, too. Nice to see Scott back in films.

Yay! Biggest role in a major feature Scott has ever had (if I'm not mistaken).

Sure, there's Color of Night, but I usually end up turning that off after the half hour mark for some reason... If that were a Columbo episode, his silhouette would marked out with yellow tape by the time Peter Falk arrived on the set. :shifty:

But then nobody watches that film for the mystery, if you know what I mean...

I'm just happy a good actor like Scott continues to get solid, regular work on and off stage and was never typecast after QL and TREK.

My reaction exactly! What is with Scott's hair?! :wtf:

It seems to be set in the 80s, the age of bad hair and pastel colours. They all look kind of horrible.
The trailer looks quite promising. I'll be seeing it.

At IMDb, there's a long article on the film's "Synopsis" page about the real story, the basis for the book that was the source for "The Informant." I found it fascinating. The article also provides links to other information, including an interview with Mark Whitacre (played by Matt Damon).

WARNING: I don't know how closely the plot of the film sticks to what actually happened, so I don't know how spoilery the article is. I think Soderbergh's style and tone (it's called a dark comedy) will certainly make for an interesting movie.

Looks like a good film, judging by the trailer, but then, "Never judge a movie by it's trailer." The last Steven Soderbergh movie I saw had an intriguing trailer too ("The Girlfriend Experience" starring pornstar Sasha Grey who also "plays" a pon farr crazed Vulcan in "This aint' Star Trek XXX"). The film ended up being a boring POS, I'm affraid.

P.S. It's really great seeing Scott score a major role in a major production! I just wish Connor got recognized already, and given something better (less crappy) than "Star Runners."
