Scott Bakula--Is this actually him singing??

It kinda looks like it, based on the way the credits read on Wikipedia (he's credited as Danny Cat, and I didn't see a separation between singing and speaking credits). But I think he's doing the voice for the orange cat in this...

(There are 7 more parts of anybody who's curious.)

Such a shame traditional animation is virtually gone...

Not bad, then! :)

You know, I think he had just the right personality for this sort of role. He's not a bad actor--I just have to think that either Archer could've been written in a way that better suited him, or perhaps a different cast would've helped if the role didn't fit.

Scott is a very versatile actor/singer. He got his start in musical theater in such musicals as Marilyn:An American Fable (Scott played Joe DiMaggio) and Romance/Romance. When he signed on for Quantum Leap, they took several opportunities to showcase Scott's singing talents in multiple episodes. If you want to catch more of Scott's singing work, pick up the soundtrack to Quantum Leap (I think it's easier to find the soundtrack on amazon or someplace like that...it's been out for a while).

Oh, my yes, that is definitely Scott. You ever hear him do Elvis? He sang a lot on Quantum Leap and he's a songwriter (I love "Somewhere in the Night!").

I think he should have sung Faith of the Heart for ENT. Would have made more sense than what we got!

That would've been a neat touch, with "Faith of the Heart." :) (Though I personally wasn't so bothered by that song as some people seem to be. But I'm a sentimental sap--what can I say? ;) )

Never heard him do Elvis, but I do remember him singing on Quantum Leap. But it's been SO many years--and I think this character's voice was quite different from the "Volare" rendition I remember.

In one episode of QL he leaps into Elvis when he's just starting out. I have Scott singing Blue Kentucky Moon as Elvis on my iPod ... he really sounds a lot like him!

I know Scott wrote the songs he sang in the lounge singer QL ep. Did he also write the Glitter Rock songs where he's the leader of a group of KISS knockoffs?

For a TREK actor he's got good pipes. 99% of my experience seeing and hearing Bakula sing comes from QUANTUM LEAP and that was 15+ years ago, but if he can still belt this stuff out he's got a pretty good talent there.

Cats Don't Dance was 1997. It was one of THE last traditional cell animations ever made by a major studio.

(Man, I miss those kinds of movies so bad--there's a magic in true 2D, NON-ANIME animation that's just missing these days.)

LOL, nice, well he did start in some musical if I am not wrong, and in one Quantum leap episode he did sing, and quite well I might add :)

Bakula was Tony-nominated for Romance/Romance. And he sang in a whole lotta episodes of Quantum Leap. On the QL soundtrack CD (by Velton Ray Bunch, who scored "Similitude," among other episodes of Enterprise), there are several songs sung by Bakula.

The Elvis episode from the final season was a bit too cheesy even for a QL storyline but I think Bakula got to sing a little in that one when the Elvis lookalike actor wasn't standing in for him.

He's got great pipes for ANY actor. I saw him live on stage in a benefit performance last January - packed house, standing ovation - and in Shenandoah the year before. Fantastic. You can find a clip online of his singing to Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen) on Boston Legal from last season.

He's a lot better than Shatner, Nimoy or Tim Russ that's for sure. He's about the only TREK actor that can actually sing in a way that's recognizable vocal music.

Nichelle Nichols can sing because she used to work for Duke Ellington in the years before TOS was on the air, but she's one of the few TREK actors with pipes.
