scifi's biggest TWIST!

What do you think was the biggest 'plot' twist in a SCIFI movie? I thought about this, and number one, in my book, has to be Darth Vader revealing the fact he was Luke's father. Yeah, there are some who claim they saw it coming, but most people didn't and that is why it was so good..

The end of PLANET OF THE APES has to rank up there as well, when Heston, who believes he has been on an entirely different planet, sees the Statue of Liberty and realizes he has been on Earth the entire time...that was pretty big! I read that Rod Sterling came up with the twist, and even the original writer thought it was great; it was.

What are some of your big Twists in scifi's past???

solyent green should be another biggy, shouldn't it?

You know, capt, as I sent that I was still thinking of Chuck Heston and then I thought of that one too...My bad!!!...good one. I am not even sure they could remake that movie. I hope they dont. With so many of the 'remakes' sucking recently, I think they should just leave the past in the past...

The Sixth Sense had a decent twist to it
12 Monkeys had a pretty good twist ending also . . .

Well for anyone who didn't already know the twist....

I suppose The Sixth Sense is a famous one

Going into TV, I loved the twist in the Buffy Season 3 ep 'Enemies', where Angel reveals he hasn't actually turned at all, and he and Buffy had been playing Faith from the start
Faith- "What can I say, world's best actor"
Angel- "Second best"

And the Angel Season 4 ep 'Awakening' where almost the whole episode had been Angel's dream. Though not in a lame Dallas-esque way

Lady Liberty in Apes
Vader Who's your Daddy in StarWars V
Raz still-not-dead Ghul in Batman Begins
GoldenEye 006 again
Soylent Green
Oldboy 2003
Brazil
The Quiet Earth
The Game
The Island
Time Bandits
Fight Club
Akira
In the Mouth of Madness
Dark City
Night of the Living Dead
Ghost In the Shell
Frankenhooker
Butcher Boy
Evil Dead II
Delicatessen 1991
Batman animated Mask of the Phantasm
Cité des Enfants Perdus
Clockword Orange
Run Lola Run
Pan's Labyrinth
Unbreakable
Mindwarp
Tetsuo 1989
12 Monkeys

In Night of the Living Dead where Ben was shot and killed after surviving the night always surprised me.

Darth Vader being Luke's father.

Spock dying.

Earth being the Planet of the Apes.

The remake of Dawn of the Dead actually being good...

Batman animated Mask of the Phantasm

OT: I still can't believe they let the action figure company get away with revealing that twist ending in the action figure packaging. The Phantasm action figure was released with the hood off and packed as an accessory revealing Andrea.
