SciFi/Fantasy TV Recommendations/Challenge

So, after spending way too much time trying to find a new show to watch, I decided t try an idea I used on another forum here. I want a new Sci-Fi/Fantasy show, but last time I made a topic about finding one here it went badly and most of that is my fault for being an ass. So, I'm taking it out of my hands. On another forum (about a more niche genre franchise then Trek) I put up a poll and had people decide what show in the franchise to watch. One I thought I would hate won, and I ended up loving it. So, modifying the idea a bit (I don't need to be made to watch Star Trek, after all) here's the deal

Recommend any show that follows these guidelines:

1. To keep it legit, only shows I can watch legally. So, things that are streaming on Netflix or Hulu in the US, or on a free streaming service like Crackle.

2. It can't be a show I've seen. Now this is hard to do because I can't just post a list, but basically stuff like Star Trek, Doctor Who, battlestar Galactica, babylon 5, Firefly, Buffy, etc. I'll allow shows I only watched an episode or two of, but if I saw at least a season (like Dark Matter or Person of Interest), it doesn't count. I'll just mention if a recommendation is something I've seen.

3. It can be any Sci Fi, Fantasy or horror thing. So, anything from dystopian sci fi to high fantasy to superheroes and everything in between. I'll even be lenient on the genre, to a point. For example, if I hadn't already seen it you could probably have convinced me that a show like Mr. Robot would fit (vaguely tech based, with some weirdo elements), but something like CSI doesn't count even if they take their weird crime tech far past legitimate levels (I think they had holograms at one point). Also, thriller =/= horror, so something like Bates Motel doesn't count as a horror show pick.

4. I can't say no based on content. So, anything from G to hard R to wherever weird thing Netflix/Hulu allows is ok to recommend.

5. Animation is ok (although live action is preferred), but no anime. I'm watching enough ongoing anime that I don't need more. Also, the time period of the recommendations doesn't matter. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, modern, etc. Also, mini series are ok but not things like single TV movies.

6. I only get one elimination, so I'm preemptively eliminating Legion. For all I know no one was going to choose that, but its on Hulu so I want to get that out of the way, even though using one elimination here will probably mean something really weird gets through.

So, recommend away. Recommend as much as you want (although don't be ridiculous, if its like 30 recommendations or some huge list spit up from somewhere I'll probably ignore it) and the top (probably 5-8ish) shows that get the most recommendations will go on a poll, after which I'll have to watch the first 3 episodes of the top 3 shows, then choose at least one to watch the whole season of (and probably have a watch thread here which I find helps me go through shows).

Do you want to see me watch something you like? Maybe try to get me to watch something you know I'll probably hate because I can be an ass and you want me to suffer? At this point, I don't care. Indecision has been doing nothing for me, so let's see what happens. If I get enough responses, I'll probably put up a poll in a few days.

I'm gonna go ahead and give this a try, even though we tend to be pretty different.
I recently started watch Guillermo Del Toro's (Hellboy 1 & 2, Pacific Rim 1) Trollhunters on Netflix and it's been pretty good so far.

Another one they've got that actually hasn't started yet, but lookes absolutely awesome is Altered Carbon.

Have you given Stranger Things a try?

I like GDT, so this could be interesting.

Not out until Feb 2, but that's close enough that I'm fine with the recommendation.

Have you given Stranger Things a try?

Nope, I hadn't tried it because I saw people compare it to ET and The Goonies, which are two movies I don't like. But, that's what this is for, stuff I haven't watched.

I'm keeping track of all the recommendations as this goes, so I won't lose track of what gets recommended or how many times a show gets recommended.

You just know I'm going to recommend THE LIBRARIANS, right? :)

Meanwhile, did you watch DEAD END HOUSE on Syfy, which is a very weird, multi-part horror story? I'm also a fan of WYNONNA EARP, which is basically a Weird Western version of BUFFY. And then there's iZOMBIE which is coming back for its fourth season in a few weeks.

(Trying to avoid all the obvious stuff.)

Well I've seen three seasons of the Librarians, so that doesn't really count ( I've pretty much dropped it permanently now though, its way too Flynn focused and I don't like him at all). Wynonna Earp and iZombie are on netflix, so I'll add those to the list as a possible thing. I think I've seen little bits of the first episodes of both, but I only vaguely remember anything.

I'm assuming you mean No End House (which is the title of season 2 of a SyFy show called Channel Zero) instead of Dead End House, which doesn't seem to be a thing. I can't seem to find Channel Zero: No End House streaming (I can't use SyFy's site/app), so that's out, even though it seems interesting.

Have you seen The Good Place? Season 1 is on Netflix.

That's a very borderline show. It might be technically "supernatural" fiction, but some people might argue its more general fiction. Looking it up, it feels more like a generic sitcom that has an unusual setting.

Also, FYI, the brief synopsis of TGP on wikipedia gives away the twist. So, yeah, I think I have to disqualify it. Even if I didn't now know the twist, it seems more like a standard set up in a weird setting and with a end of season twist. You could easily take the character out of hell and have them just be learning to be a better person in a generic neighborhood, so I'm not going to count it. Its like that one show I vaguely remember *quick google check* Dead Like Me. It has fantasy elements but not enough to really be a fantasy show, that stuff is more like window dressing for a more standard show at the core.

Have you tried Travelers (seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix) or 3% (season 1 on Netflix)?

Travelers I got most of the way through season 1, so I'm going to disqualify it since I've seen 7-8 episodes and didn't like it (good premise, bad writing).

3% doesn't seem to fit. It seems to be more like a dystopia set in what could be today. Outside of the situation being something you probably wouldn't see in real life, it doesn't seem to be very Sci Fi or fantasy. Wikipedia calling it a dystopian thriller seems to match it well, so I think I have to say its not really Sci Fi unless wikipedia is missing something.

Also, just to say in general and not a specific response to the post above, nobody should feel like they can't recommend more well known stuff. Sure, I've seen every Star Trek series and stuff like that, but I could easily have missed something or just not bothered to watch it, especially when it comes to fantasy.

I don't care if the recommendations are for popular or obscure stuff, just to be clear. I just want people to know that they don't just have to suggest lesser known stuff necessarily.

Have you tried Rick and Morty (seasons 1 and 2 on Hulu) or Being Erica (season 1, 2, 3, and 4 on Hulu)?

Or The 4400 (seasons 1 through 4 on Netflix, with a couple books continuing the storyline)?

Never seen it, but it counts. I'll add it to the list.

I love Rick & Morty. As for Being Erica, it seems borderline but I'll allow it, and put it on the list.

Have you watched Haven, Under the Dome, Defiance, or Helix?

Haven and Helix are available on Netflix, and Defiance and Under the Dome are available through Amazon Prime Video (if you have it).

You could also try The Originals (seasons 1 through 4 on Netflix). It's technically a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, but it's a lot better written (and with a lot less teen angst) than The Vampire Diaries.

You're starting to run out of Netflix/Hulu streaming content after that...Quantum Leap is on Hulu, though it's more likely you've tried that one.

Eureka and Warehouse 13 are also worth watching, but they aren't on Netflix streaming anymore.

Yep, that's what I meant. Channel Zero is apparently a seasonal anthology series, like American Horror Story, which does a different long story every season.

Meanwhile, what about TIMELESS? The first season was a lot of fun, and season 2 starts in a month or so.

Have you tried Supernatural (seasons 1 through 12 on Netflix)?

I've seen an episode before, but I think just one so I'll add it to the list.

Haven't seen Quantum Leap and definitely would never have watched The Originals, so I'll add both to the list. As for Eureka and warehouse 13, watched them both and love them.

I've seen an episode of Haven but that's it, so I'll add it to the list. Never saw Helix, so it also goes on the list. I don't have Prime Video, so the other shows are out.

Timeless seems cool, but Hulu only has the last 5 episodes of the season, so thats out.

Actually The Good Place is very much a fantasy show.
