Thanks for the votes. I think we were all happy to see Voyager crash into an ice planet and finally end things. Oh, that was un-done? Damnit.

Anyway...

This new contest is devoted to hilariously outdated technology, i.e. technology in film or television which was depicting the future but by today's standard's is just plain funny they even thought that would be the case.

Maybe it's giant computers that couldn't hold a candle to today's laptops, mini discs for storage, flip-picture clocks, or what "SeaQuest DSV" thought the internet would look like in 2021.

General Entry Rules:
  • Avatar must be 200x200 pixels.
  • Avatar must be one megabyte or less in size.
  • Not hotlinking; you must host the picture somewhere, like postimages.org.
  • Work Safe: Keep in mind the possibility of people at working seeing pictures here. And remember our evil overlord pay master, GoogleAd Sense.
  • Two entries allowed per person.
  • If you're not sure if it qualifies, just ask :-)
I will take entries until (pending possibly shortening it) Wednesday of next week.

Not only did "Back to the Future, Part II" predict that in 2015 we'd still use fax machines at home, it predicted we'd have several of them all printing their own copies of the same fax:

In that case, I'll stay with the dead trees theme and present to you ...

... printed newspapers in the 2250s, "Babylon 5"'s "Universe Today".

I might retract my first entry since I have to resize it and optimize it nearly to death:

The internet (or "internex") in "SeaQuest DSV" (2019 0r 2018; season one would take place there I think, as later it was 2021):
SeaQuest.gif

The full -size un-altered gif:
TEMP.gif

Comes with a cheesy voice, too: "Welcome to Internex"

(Also hilariously bad: what they thought video games would look like in the "future"; episode: "Photon Bullet")

Hey, what's going on with that full-size un-altered gif there?

Whoa. It's a problem on your end. I uploaded the original gif I just finished making at the time. This public computer has no such images on it.

No, the image displaying is not for everybody. This computer is re-set each night to a pre-made image long before that gif was created. In other words: the cache is wiped.

Gepard is seeing the correct image. Right-clicking the image for the page link at PostImages and entering it into your browser window, takes you straight to the image.

If the old image is in your browser cache, you'll still see the old one.
The one Kai screenshot is what's currently there.

I've never been in this thread before so I doubt it's in my cache. (I only came here because of the hullabaloo elsewhere about the image.)
