Scientists work on ways to keep Navy ships barnacle-free

interesting... Wonder if it would affect the noise profile for submarines?

Could be a balancing act as to whether it raiised the noise profile more than then what barnacles on the hull do.

Then again are barnacles that much of a problem for subs? Thought they were only at see for upto 6 months at a time before returning? While they are in for being prepped for their next tour they could clean the hull.

That's likely to be the current policy. However, turn-around and refit times could be greatly reduced for ALL ships if the barnacles don't even get attached to the hulls.
