Scientists Invent an Actual Tractor Beam... Kinda

This doesn't so much pull as it allows whatever it hits to be a glow thruster more than anything else.

I have often wondered about what I might call a sky cursor---maybe have two or more beams intersecting an aerogel retroreflector and having it pantograph over, across--and down...the power beams replacing the physical struts of this:

Useful in rarified atmosphere of Mars or high up above. This might resemble a UFO but would have no heavy load-out---maybe a camera at best.

A lightweight engineless drone.

It would be a good way for a civilization look look more advanced than it is.

Sleeper colony ships use the slow boat approach---build beamers in asteroids---hidden bases---and a cursorcraft can seem to zip about as if breaking the laws of physics---though it is of no real substance. That's what you make contact with.

Let an heavyweight Nuclear Orion pulse-ship show up at their beamers---and they've had it. There is your Footfall 2.

As for Terminator 2
